To backsplash or not to backsplash...
Comments (13)Ooooh, you have me a little worried. I am planning a white on white kitchen...but back to the topic at hand. No I definitely don't think a lip of a backsplash is at all unfinished. In fact, i think most houses just have a lip? I wonder if the wall of a BS is a new thing. In fact i just took a quick look at property listings (no I am not a realtor, haha) and the 3 houses I clicked on (close to a million$) all had a lip of a backsplash. I think it is personal preference. And your right it is a dust catcher=). but better to have dust than me rub off my wall every time I wipe my counters down. (good paint may well solve that dilemma) but I do think that it looks naked with nothing. We cook alot ( and I am messy) so I have to have something behind my stove...and personally i do like the full wall of backsplash. If you have soapstone, that may break up the white enough to not make it so stark. You could possibly consider the lip of soapstone and then tile above that....? Best of luck...See MoreThoughts on these cabinets, granite and backsplash choice
Comments (12)with the white cabinetry the counter takes a creamy vanilla feel because the cabinets are really stark white. I can see the point of a gray backsplash to tie the cool white with the grayed brown of island....and tie in with counter. I think a lighter more monochromatic gray would work with the gray flecks in the counter and associate with the cool white cabinetry. In reality, the two cabinet tones work best with the gray backsplash tile you have chosen so far, and the counter is a bit off with it's warm cream background. Keep looking....do you like a more cool sleek vibe or are you wanting warmer toned surfaces??...See MoreAnother Backsplash thread....thought we wanted green...now not so sure
Comments (42)Hey guys..not at home right now, but the Sherwin Williams color on the walls is "cachet cream". When I put it up, the running joke for the entire paint project was, "wow...i'm having a hankering for something...sweet...and orange-like...but with vanilla in the middle. Creamsicle!!!" However, after it dried, it mellowed into something more creamy / yellow. It definitely has a yellow tint in the natural light. When we painted the walls, we didn't know what the backsplash was going to be, so it was more of a 'guess' seeing as though we'd either get it right or have to paint it again...and it is sooooo much easier to paint with no flooring, etc. in the room... Here is a link to the color: Sherwin Williams Cachet Cream...See MoreHaving second thoughts about backsplash
Comments (9)sky gazer...you're replacing appliances,,,but what about overhead lighting? I noticed an outdated light fixture or fan? hard to tell. if it's dark in there, then you really should fix that issue. there is no reason why aqua and gray can't work together. they compliment each other. everything will work better if there is proper lighting. I found this aqua/gray toned tile that would work w/your countertop and your wall coloring. plus, its a 3x9 size, which is perfect for your kitchen. https://www.flooranddecor.com/tile-decoratives/heirloom-aqua-porcelain-tile-100183334.html But if you really feel that conflicted, then switch out the gray for the white tiles and be done with it. that way your kitchen can look just like the other millions with the white subways....See MoreChris H
