I need advice regarding maple trees...
Comments (7)So I thought I would post a picture for a better understanding of our situation. Please excuse the overgrown grass underneath. We were planning on just separating them soon and mulching afterward. Now my husband just wants to leave them as is in light of the new "professional" opinion. So what would you guys do in our situation? Separate or leave them? Oh and my husband said they are some sort of red maple. I hope the visual helps. Thanks so much for the advice, we really appreciate it. Especially since I am now more confused than ever! Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreAdvice Regarding My Blog Needed
Comments (18)Olychick: I'm starting to regret that I hadn't thought of an electronic newsletter before I started - and paid for- this blog site! Annie: THANK YOU for that link!!!!! That helps me so much. I've bookmarked it for future reference. And Carol, thanks for reiterating the basic concept for everyone else. More answered questions: ~ I don't want comments or interaction with the patients because (1) I'm only doing this in my spare time and don't want to be responsible for monitoring it on a daily or even weekly basis. And, (2) I can picture someone making a comment on how they might change a recipe. This wouldn't bother me at all if it were in keeping with the basic premise of a low fat, low sugar, low empty carb, high fiber . . . but always, great-tasting recipe that my site promotes. I could end up having all sorts of unhealthful changes suggested. And (3) my sweet hubby is too busy already with his practice. I know that he would NOT appreciate having to answer any medical questions on this blog (LOL!). Mimi: I didn't mean to be patronizing. It's just that many of DH's patients have already discussed this with him and have told him and his staff that they aren't interested in "navigating the internet" and asked him to please keep it simple and direct. And so that's what I'm trying very hard to do. If his was just a young professionals kind of practice, I wouldn't hesitate to add more, but it's a very mixed bag of patients. As for linking other sites, I understand your argument to do it, but I think I'd open up a proverbial "can of worms" that I'm not ready or equipped to deal with at this time....See MoreAdvice needed regarding sectional sofa dilemma
Comments (5)That is the only living space in the house. It's a townhouse we're renting for a year or two. We sacrificed on space to be close to the beach, which has been an awesome choice, until Irma, of course. We don't have any other "real" furniture for the living area, and we wanted to avoid purchasing anything until we bought a home, but when the old sofa had to go, we had to replace that. So we don't have any other seating, but it's really not a big deal. We don't have kids or family in the area, and we don't have a bunch of people over at one time, so the sectional is enough for our current needs. Is there anything in particular you would suggest for ottomans? I would like something that fits physically with the sofa to get something close to a chaise feel without having to close off the space permanently as you would with a chaise. Finding the right size is important too, as I dislike the really big ottomans for sectionals; they take up way too much space and prevent the use of a coffee table....See MoreIs our "interior designer" bogus? Comments (7)A valuable, albeit expensive lesson learned. What does your contract say about returns? And there is a significant difference between "interior designers" and "interior decorators". https://newschoolarch.edu/academics/schoolofdesign/bachelor-of-interior-design/interior-designer-and-decorator/ In Connecticut, interior designers must be licensed and are defined as follows: " Sec. 20-377k. Definitions. As used in this chapter: (1) “Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Consumer Protection; and (2) “interior designer” means a person qualified by education, experience and examination who (A) identifies, researches and creatively solves problems pertaining to the function and quality of the interior environment; and (B) performs services relative to interior spaces, including programming, design analysis, space planning and aesthetics, using specialized knowledge of non-load-bearing interior construction, building systems and components, building codes, equipment, materials and furnishings; and (C) prepares plans and specifications for non-load-bearing interior construction, materials, finishes, space planning, reflected ceiling plans, furnishings, fixtures and equipment relative to the design of interior spaces in order to enhance and protect the health, safety and welfare of the public." There is no definition or licensing requirements for people to call themselves interior decorators. The Certified Interior Decorators International association awards CID (Certified Interior Decorator) designations to people who have taken their on-line program that generally takes 2-6 weeks to complete and have successfully passed their 50 question exam....See Moreshawnmarie23
