If you don't have helmets for everyone in your house, please get them.

Stay aware of what is happening in your direct area.

Get a weather radio if you don't have one.

If there is a severe thunderstorm predicted for your area, pay attention.

If there is a tornado Warning for your area, get into your safe place: small room center of house, preferably without windows, have on hard soled shoes and your helmet.

This is the time of year for unsttled weather in the south, so just be prepared and stay safe since we can't do without any of you.

We are on the fringe of the severe weather but Saturday we will have powerful straight line wind, around 50+ gusts.

We have had some heavy rains, lots of thunder, but main storm is tonight. I hope it won't be too bad. worst area is west of us, maybe it will all be milder for us all. Stay safe y'all!

At about 5:45 am every day, I go outside in my bathrobe and "check" the weather. Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning and I take my umbrella with me when I leave the house at 6:30. Red sky at night, nice sky in the morning, sailor's delight, no umbrella. If it's just a little brisk at 5:45, I wear a sweater or light jacket because it'll warm up by the time I come home and I'll be carrying whatever I've worn. If it's really cold, heavy coat and other gear - yes, I lived in the TC so I also know downright bitter cold. In the winter, I always wear some type of shoe/boot that can withstand snow. In my normal daily routine, as long as I don't get drenched with rain, I don't care too much about what the weather is. I have hairspray at work. If I'm going out of town for some number of days, I google the newspaper of my destination city and check what's going to be happening. Because there's not a darned thing I can do to affect the weather, I don't both too much about it.

I like wood stoves, too: the quick and intense heat; the sensory aspect, that you hear and see and even smell a wood stove; we also use ours to dry clothes and heat bricks and sometimes food or water. A wood stove has a presence; it's a hearth for the home in a way no radiator can ever be. That said, they're polluting, not to mention labor-intensive and messy. There's a symmetry to all this: significance requires work, and brings disorder with it. We have just one stove, in our living room, which means that we all get cozy in cold weather. Perhaps it's just that DH, DD, and I get along anyway, but I think it helps that we spend our hours at home together in this small space, talking, sharing the books we're reading and what we're seeing on our computers. I must say it helped when DD got earphones and I didn't have to listen to her and DH's music for hours on end. Bart, I get you about wanting to get out to the garden, and I hope your turn comes soon! Fortunately for me mine is right here, and even when my cold was worse than now I could step out now and then when temperatures were mild and prune the wisteria on the pergola in front of the house. Yesterday we had an amazing miraculous day of decent weather. I was out for several hours (wow), shearing weeds, digging out a patch of Bermuda grass, pruning the Teas, that needed it badly, tidying an orange peel clematis. Which may not be very comforting to you, but sickness does end one day, and so does bad weather. I wonder if, when the weather does finally improve, we may not suddenly get well? I have a notion these stubbornly prolonged illnesses are linked to the cold and dreary conditions of these last weeks. Possibly to an excess of indoor life, too.

Alexis, Color me green with envy! I hope those of you hearing thunder last night got some rain, or get some today. Jay, I remember your horrible drought years that we thought never would end and how we all watched the radar endlessly hoping some rain would fall there. I know you probably won't get the amount that the QPF predicts for your area, but wouldn't it be nice if it actually happened? We haven't had significant rain in so long that I had to break down and water the lawn around the house because the bermuda grass was turning brown. I didn't water it in order to have a pretty lawn----I did it for fire protection. So far, I've only watered the lawn on the south and west sides of the house. I guess today I'll water the north and east sides. I could wait for rain to find us here, but since it probably won't, I'll just go ahead and water. I kinda like the look of brown bermuda grass---it always makes me hope the bermuda grass is dying, and y'all know I would replace it with flowers and ground covers if it ever died (which it won't.---I've never hear of bermuda grass actually dying anywhere ever). The cooldown doesn't reach our place today either---we still have a forecast high of 99 compared to yesterday's 100 degrees, but I think tomorrow we're expecting a high only in the mid-90s. We'll take whatever break in the heat we get. At least none of us are under a heat advisory today---for probably the first time all week, so that has to count for something. Dawn

We have high wind warnings for Saturday. 65+ possible gusts. I was hoping for a gardening day but may have to postpone till Sunday.

Similar here. I knew we were supposed to have storms and are under tornado watch, but was surprised predicting wind gusts between 60-75 most of tomorrow. Guess i may be missing the rest of my roof tomorrow. Oh well. I was looking forward to getting outside tomorrow.

Another round of very severe weather here. Awake until 1:00 a.m. watching storms roll by one after another. We had lots of rain, lots of wind, lots of tree limbs down but no significant damage. As you know other areas did not fare well. So much destruction elsewhere. We do have another high risk notification for next Wednesday so these strong spring storms continue to stream through. I hope all of you fared well.

Kay - After so many tornado warnings and confirmed rotations last night, I may be buying some helmets. Our paticular location did not get the brunt of the storms. I can't believe the winds are still so horrible today.

Kate - I'm glad you checked in. We didn't get to bed until after 1:30 a.m. since there were tornado warnings to the west and south of us.

Nancy - I do hope there's no more damage to your roof. You've already had enough storm damage for one year.

Strong winds brought down our power for over 5 hours. Wind gusts pushed cars off the road............. I waved at Dorothy and her little dog as she passed by..............Maryl

We had some strong winds here--lots of stuff blown around the yard, but no trees down. Amazingly enough, we didn't lose our power. Apparently a tornado hit a town about 30 miles south of us.

Glad to heaer you all fared fairly well. We did here too. Very strong winds all day but bright and sunny, Not much damage around as the really bad storm back in March seemed to have brough down all the weak trees and branches. I did see a few homes with roof damage and a few fences down up in Lexington.

I am so glad everyone came through okay. Kate, it was a little too close to you with the tupelo and Pollock storms, and Nancy,, 30 mles is indeed too close.

Debra, it is worth it to buy a couple of bike helmets, they are cheap but perform fine in case of severe weather and we want to keep what brains we have left. Our weather gets crazier and crazier doesn't it?

I am glad you are all ok! i saw it was worse just north and south of me. lost a couple more chunks of roof. The insurance adjuster is supposed to be here Wed. Another storm is predicted that day, if course. Maybe he will get here early. I don'know when it will get roofed, everyone is so far behind 🤷‍♀️
