I bake too and was dying to get this range because of the steam feature, but do a search on KitchenAid in GW and other places on the Web. There have been all sorts of problems with the self clean and KitchenAid seems to just deny to their customers that a problem exists. There have also been negative posts about the newer KitchenAid mixers (since whirlpool took them over, they have gone downhill). Bottom line based on what I read seemed to be that if you have a problem, it's tough to get them to take care of it even if it's under warrantee. I personally had a bad experience with their service regarding a problem with a mixer under warrantee which they refused to fix. If you were lucky and didn't have any problems it could be fabulous. I searched on aj madison on the kitchenaid and it was $5019 and i found i got better prices with my local appliance dealer for my appliances. You might shop around more on the kitchenaid. The wolf you will have a harder time shopping it around as it is set pricing. On splattering we use an old fashioned splatter guard and that works great to reduce cleanup. You pay extra for wolf for the reputation, cache, and service. It might be worth it on resale. On aj madison websiteyou can do a comparison of the specs on each and see the differences.

I know that a lot of people probably won't complain about cosmetic issues, but still, since this is affecting ranges from a few years ago at least, I would expect to find more complaints out there if this were a common problem. Make sure you aren't using very tall pots on the back burners. I have seen issues with this before, but it usually manifests itself in electronics problems with the oven control. That said, I can easily imagine how it might lead to peeling problems like this. Don't misinterpret me here, I'm not saying that this is necessarily happening due to user error. Just trying to come up with ideas and things to check. Looking up the part number, it looks like the current available part has replaced several other part numbers over the past few years, indicating that multiple revisions were made to the part. It's possible that the quality of the part has improved since you got your range and that the problem would not reoccur if you replaced it. It sounds like you've been dealing directly with the warranty company up until this point? If so, what I'd recommend is giving Kitchenaid a call directly, describe your problem, and politely, but firmly, make the case that even though it's a cosmetic issue, there isn't really a probable way this kind of damage could have been your fault (unlike a scratch or dent or something). And, since it's a basic customer expectation that an appliance that's been used and cared for properly should look good for years, they really should help you out with the cost of the replacement panel. Even if they don't help you, at a bare minimum this will cause them to log your problem. If lots of other people have the same issue, this could lead to them coming up with a fix if they haven't already.

I had a Bosch range in my last house. Bosch is generally a great product. All our appliances were Bosch. We had a Dual Fuel slide in Bosch range. It had some issues. While we only had to have it repaired once under warranty I would not get another. Cons... 1) It would get stuck on, and the only way to shut it off was to turn it to high and then lower it to get the fan to kick on. Annoying. 2) The Fan is really LOUD. 3) Another negative is there was too much space between the grates and one of my tiny pots would tip over when sliding it across the grates. 4) We had gas on glass but it was NOT easier to clean. In fact it was probably more challenging because the burners were not sealed so food would get down inside. You could turn it on high and burn it off. 5) The glass window into the oven could not be cleaned. It just frustrated me. There is a range by SMEG that offers a way to pop out the window and clean it. But SMEG is a looks not cook range. Now for the Pros 1) The grates can be put into the dishwasher and come out looking brand new. I love that! 2) A great range to cook on. The water boils super fast and the simmer is perfection. A great range to cook but maybe not the best out there. 3) The pieces are solid and made well. A great german product. With all that said, I am getting a Jennair or a Kitchenaid suite of appliances. I know I know they are sisters and made by Whirlpool. Bosch is a German company that also makes Thermador and Gaggaenau, I believe they are all a part of Siemens. And Siemens makes great products. I just want to try a different brand and I am hoping that the bells and whistles with Kitchenaid are something I will love Good luck with your search.
