kitchen facelift ideas, suggestions welcome!
Comments (11)I would definitely remove the microwave and do a vent there. Not sure I’d put the microwave in place of the oven though. I’d probably put in in the island. Or a cabinet. What’s that white closet door? Pantry? Can we blow that out? And enlarge the entry to the DR? or can we replace with matching cabinets? Do you want a walk in pantry? Do you want to remove the entire wall - fridge, and bar area included for a more open feel? Also thinking maybe we can do some glass fronts on some of the cabinets. To add a more airy feel. These kinds of projects get expensive VERY quickly. My advice is to think this through, make some organized lists. Have a set budget and plan to do this right the first time round. If it means waiting until you can rework some of the layout and customize some finishes that’s the route I’d go for a space with such potential! Good luck!!...See Morekitchen facelift
Comments (19)they use tiny pin nails. you may or may not see it. it would be about this size. if you do, I'd get a dark wood putty and mix it w/the stain color that matches your cabinets. (it's easier enough to match it.) mix the wood putty filler and the stain, take a toothpick and carefully fill the little pin hole. smooth it with your finger so that it's flush. this is the stuff and you'd mix it w/the right stain color. (or, find a wood filler that closely matches your cabinet color) https://www.amazon.com/Mohawk-Fil-Stik-Furniture-Cabinet-M230-1250/dp/B00WQ47N1M/ref=asc_df_B00WQ47N1M https://www.amazon.com/Furniture-Scratch-Restorer-Compound-Hardwood/dp/B07YJSBN8C/ref=asc_df_B07YJSBN8C or, this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MW3RHKY/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5 that should be all it takes....See Morekitchen facelift
Comments (5)The only thing dated about your cabinets, is that the lowers are all doors, and not the more preferred convenient drawers. You have all doors on the lowers. Painting is not going to change that. Wood cabinets are very much in style. Just thumb through the most recent kitchens on this forum, and you’ll see many, many wood cabinets…especially maple, like yours are. Change the backsplash, sure. And, also update the cabinet hardware…perhaps change out the barely noticable knobs, with some more dramatic pulls. Otherwise, save up until you can afford to retrofit fhe lower cabinets with drawers....See MoreKitchen Facelift... need help!
Comments (23)Design Fan jackowskib cat_ky Flo Mangan I have carpet in living room, but was considering replacing that with the vinyl we install in kitchen. So the foyer and dining room would be birch and the other floors would be same- manila oak coretec is what I like. I ordered a box to get and idea of how it would look, it is similar in tone to the birch, but not shiny and planks are wider-7" birch planks are shiny and 3 3/4(? something like that). Her is manila oak with cherry cabinets in another persons home. I think it looks nice and not too matchy....thoughts? And second picture is visualization of my kitchen. With continuing the MO through other 2 rooms do you think it will be more flowing? I am thinking the dining room and foyer have rugs that hide most of the wood and dining room is not in direct site line of entry into house, only foyer and that area is mostly covered by a runner? Thoughts on that theory? My kitchen with Manila Oak Transition from foyer Transition from kitchen to family room if we extend MO to other rooms! Please over look clutter!!! And if I could talk better 1/2 into laying it over the birch, it would all match! Which I do agree is the right choice, but it doesn't look like I can convert better 1/2- ugh!...See Morestiley
