What color stain?

I am redoing my bathroom like the first picture. i currently have red oak cabinets i need a green undertone stain that will make my cabinets. first picture is my actual cabinets

look like one of the below pics.

Get stain and pieces of the wood that your cabinets are made of and sample boards. The first pic is not oak. The second pic is not red oak.

show a picture of your actual cabinets. red oak will never look like white oak, especially w/a stain color that light)

So show a picture of your actual wood cabinets.

who is doing the staining? if you want them lighter, they will need to be completely sanded down to raw wood.

Please, no poplar. get a diff wood species. Red Oak would be better. Poplar is horrible for staining. It's a paint grade wood if you must use Minwax (Varathane or General Finishes is better) , Use the Dark Walnut, Provencial, If Varathane is there, do the gel stain in the american walnut or walnut color. If they have a warmer brown color, pick that one. you want the darkest tone in your flooring. it will look better than a honey color against the black

BM Linen White might be a good place to start. You'll have to bring home some chips to find the right color. Something a little lighter than the bed. Don't try to match the bed. The cover on the cushion looks too white, so after you paint the chest you'll have to see how that looks and maybe change it.

I vote for Cordovan Brown - assuming that pic is true to what the stain color really is. There is a LOT of gray in it, which means it would blend nicely with gray siding. On the other hand, a semi-transparent gray stain is going to let some of the wood tone and texture through anyway. What Cat said above - test it and consider fence to match.

You may even want to sand and stain on the back of one of the doors already there because the age of the wood, it may take stain differently than new wood.

Red oak is not UV faded walnut and never will be.

To introduce a stain you must remove every bit of any finish on the doors and every other surface of the box that shows…in order let the stain penetrate…even then all the parts may react differently with the same stain…you don’t show your whole situation but if you opt to paint the cabinet part.. ( black or a color?) it may be worth it …then just get the new doors you want
