I'm with Linelle. And how exactly are you going to wipe it up before stepping (or slipping) on it? I don't think this flooring is a smart choice for you, especially if you don't like the look of a bathmat. Is this for a master or a guest bath? Are you really going to want to warn guests, "Be careful, my bathroom floor is a deathtrap when wet" or worse yet, risk an injury? I would say if you LOVE something it's worth having something high maintenance even if it requires extra care that you're willing to do(like marble counters) but never if it's a legit safety issue. Can you use it as your shower walls instead, so you can still use it in your space, then use the penny tile from the photo as an accent?

I wish I had layed my tile out before install for the repeats bother me. My installer did ok but the re p.o eats next to each other give away that it is faux. Some brands have a better variation rating than others. Home depot and Lowe's often have a variation rating far lower than higher end tile supply stores if you think it would matter. It mattered with my OCD.

As others have posted, it is the COF that determines whether a tile is safe for floors in bathrooms and polished or unpolished is not the determinant. In my personal experience it is the size of the tile that makes it safe because it is the grout that enables my feet to adhere firmly to the floor and not slide when my feet or the floor is wet - or even damp. When I used a bathroom that had large tiles with relatively little grout (12" x 12") the surface felt like ice and I had to be extremely careful about where I placed my feet lest I suffer a potentially dangerous falls, I have marble tiles in my bathroom (same ones as used in the shower) but they are small and so have lots of grout. I didn't want to rely on mats to cover every surface of a floor where I might potentially step because I liked the way the floors look without rugs or mats and I don't want to clean around a mat. FWIW, I lay down a towel outside of the shower so that I don't drip excessively when I step out but the towel goes into the hamper when I am done. And don't forget grab bars when you are building the shower - they are as critical to safety as a COF tile or grout.

I have also been in high-end hotels where I took my life in my hands on their floors. Large tiles with a low coefficient of friction are dangerous. Coefficient of friction is a rating on tiles. Make sure to read up on this and look for it when shopping. You may need to go to manufacturer’s websites to get this rating. One way to get a shiny floor and good friction is to use small tiles. Grout breaks up the slip factor very well. That is why traditionally, bathroom floors used mosaic tiles.
