Wow Bob that is huge! My valentine tree has not grown much - it is pretty weak I think. Frankly I’m now thinking maybe they sent me the wrong kind when I ordered like two years ago from that nursery - one green world. I’m annoyed because I have another tree from them that was supposed to be a pearl tangelo, and it is obviously not. It has several oranges for the first time, but they are not tangelos, but the Vaniglia blood orange I’m not so fond of. The valentine tree has leaves that look an awful lot like wekiwa tangelo and now that I think about it, it tasted like it too. That’s very annoying! I guess those are two more I can re-home!

Thanks Tom. This is a new graft using a bud from the tree you sent to me some years ago. That caterpillar could slice through the new shoots trunk. The mother Valentine Pomelo after 3 years outside in ground just over 6 feet tall and just under 6 feet wide lightly branched Steve

I have found that citrus trees from seed are easy to grow. Kumquats are very difficult the first year from seed. I got the tree from Tom. He grafted the Pomelo to a US897 rootstock. I have a Valentine Pomelo on Seville sour I grafted myself. I have a New Zealand lemonade seedling with a bud from Mature New Zealand lemonade wood to get an NZL-on-NZL roots. Steve
