Screen porch in progress! Looking for tables...
Comments (15)Well, a few things have changed since (1) I did some local browsing in stores yesterday and (2) my rug also arrived yesterday. I did not find a single thing that I really liked during my shopping trip. Also, I found the same fun wood/metal stools from World Market that I thought I'd love, but I realized they're really too small to be practical for use as a "table." I'm realizing that with just one end table in the corner between the two loveseats, I really need a coffee table setup that's going to work for, say, placing a bowl of chips (um, I mean fruit) as well as possibly putting up our feet. Also, while I do like the rug, the colors aren't exactly what I thought they'd be -- more muted, and what I thought might have been a gray color is really brown. Actually, it has a lot more brown than I expected -- even the border is brown, whereas in the picture on the HD web site, it's blue. Anyway, most of the brightly colored table options really won't work with the rug. Now I am looking at these LL Bean tables... I'd get two of them so they can be moved around as needed (more flexible than the coffee table) and I'd get them in the Sand color, I think, because that color seems to work with the "sand" color in the rug as well as the actual color of the porch -- it will all be painted the same as the trim color of my house, which is Linen White. They are pricier than some, but they seem built to last. And the "Mission" style reflects back to some of the furniture inside my house...and works well with the style of the loveseats too, I think. Comments (8)Macumber, those are cute pillows, as is the rug Tibbrix posted. The only thought in my mind is that it is hard to match or mix oranges. I have this problem in my family room. Some oranges are pinky-coral-orange, some a bright yellow-orange, and others a browned down rust or clay. The small pillows are not hard to use as accents with navy with cording edge behind them. They are also easy to return if the colors don't work. The orange in Tibb's rug seems to be multicolored which is easier to work with the a solid. But colors on monitors are notoriously hard to match. Take it a step at a time, then order a smaller rug, perhaps, to see the colors. Here is a link to Ballard Designs outdoor rugs for some more ideas. I Do love the rug, (and also the first bird pillow in HD link). The mixed patterns in the pretty pictures work because the colors are spot on. http://www.ballarddesigns.com/rugs-drapery/rugs/indoor-outdoor/#w=*&af=cat2:rugsampdrapery_indooroutdoorrugs cat1:rugsampdrapery pagetype:products...See Moreneed help with rug choice and placement on downstairs porch
Comments (9)HI -- Because the concrete is slippery when wet ... you might want to look into Rubber paving/coating . It is used on driveways and sidewalks and around pools etc. It comes in several colors and it can be hosed off . We are going to do our sidewalk and front steps next year because our new aggregate sidewalk is too rough and hard to shovel in the winter ....See MoreLove my new 100% POLYESTER Karastan rug for the entry porch!
Comments (11)My3dogs, how cruel of you to not show us your porch after showing us the beautiful rug and gorgeous wallpaper. I hope you'll reconsider and let us see how the two go together and what other lovely things you have there. Wouldn't mind seeing your living room and other areas of your house too! I also have a wool Karastan rug that I've had for well over 20 years and it still looks gorgeous and almost new except for some minor wear on the edges. I'm happy to know that the polyester ones are also good since I had some doubts about them. I love the one you've chosen, being also someone who loves warm colors, although of course always with some cool colors mixed in for contrast....See MoreSueb20
