Bathroom floor tile

We are using this tile on our shower walls. It's a large shower (4'x8') so is going to be a statement. Want something more subtle for the bathroom floor in carrara also. Looking for suggestions!

This does not sound like a do it yourself job. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and have someone bust it up-since the old cast iron tub will have to be busted up to replace with a shower. I know how I felt when I tried to remove the wallpaper and found the walls ill prepared-then discovered that there were at least 2 different layers of wallpaper under the one I was trying to remove. Boy was I hot!!!. Wallpaper had to become part of my wall and get painted. That is probably how someone would feel about tile over tile.

Floor tile for a shower should have a Coefficient of Friction (COF) of .65 or greater while wet. Some tiles designed specifically for tiles have a COF of .85. A tile's COF is usually reported on the tile box or specification sheet that accompanies the tile. If it is missing, odds are the tile is not intended for wet floors. You should certainly NOT rely on grout to provide the appropriate grip because as grout ages it becomes more slippery and provides less friction.

I’m not a pro, and have no experience with floor painting, but to me your floor looks fine. IMO you could paint the yellow walls with a neutral color, something like the white or (is that a gray in your floor tile?) get a white shower curtain, clean the grout and paint your vanity white with new hardware, or if your budget allows, just get a new vanity, they really aren’t too expensive. No. That might be an anti-fracture membrane but without seeing everything, hard to advise. Looks more like this. More effective than a fabric.

The marble and herringbone are beautiful but I do think that the slender size tile for the gigantic size shower is a mismatch in scale. I say this kindly, but I don't think it will look like a statement, I think it will look like a mistake. I'd instead purchase a 3x6 or 12x4 tile from the same colllection and have it laid in a herringbone pattern.

I know you asked about the floor. Sorry I have no advice there.

If you like it so much, maybe you should use it as your floor tile too. That is what is in your inspiration pic.

I’m surprised at the naysayers. I like this a lot, niczab. Unfortunately I can’t offer any solutions for the floor. Love your ideas.
