Tips for Hiding a hideous City power box at edge of front yard
Comments (0)We have a hideous power box at the front edge of our yard. It is not in the view of our house when looking straight ahead (as seen in the 2nd image) but we live on a dead end culdesac and it obstructs the initial view of the home (as seen in the first image). Several neighbors have put up some sort of fluffy plant to cover it from view. I have never seen anyone access the larger box and I think it provides power for the light pole next to it. The smaller box is Charter Cable and I have seen them access it before. Any tips or suggestions for something I can do to make it look better? Technically, the right side of the box is over our neighbor's property line. I do not think they would care if we put something to cover it though and we are open to asking them if that is the best solution....See MoreLiving room redecorating. need help making my room look cozy and inter
Comments (8)Center the sofa on the far wall (where the TV currently is) and put the end tables on each side. Get matching table lamps (26"-30" tall) for the end tables. You can put a larger piece of art over the sofa. This will address the immediate focal point as you enter this room. Keep the loveseat where it currently is, centered on the wall between the windows (if there's enough room when you move the sofa). Place the coffee table in front of it. If you need to scooch it down a bit that's fine, but I generally like to try centering off of architectural features first. You're looking at an arrangement something like this: You can then purchase a TV cabinet/console that will go on the wall opposite the loveseat. There might then be enough room to get a pretty side chair to angle in to the seating area. With this arrangement, you address conversation needs and also TV viewing. I wouldn't do an accent wall. Just keep all of your paint light and neutral. The carpet you have is pretty ... if you like it keep it. It looks as if you've already pulled some colors from it for your throw pillows. I would remove your valances, you don't need them with your fabric shades. Pretty furniture and a nice start to your room!...See MoreHelp! Need ideas/tips on front yard landscaping and entry area
Comments (5)It's a fact ... you'll not be able to get rid of the mess until you create a permanent, hard walk where there is now mulch. The magnolia roots are going to make it harder, but it must be done if there is to be a cure. I agree with others that something like concrete (simplest and cheapest) or pavers/brick are suitable. A walk laid out to acknowledge the tree will look and work better than one that doesn't. The bench only makes sense if there is a way to get to it ... i.e., use it. But because of Magnolia roots, it would add a lot of difficulty extending the walk to the bench. Therefore, I'd recommend using the bench elsewhere and having only plantings at the front of the house. Consider using a groundcover like Asiatic Jasmine to cover the magnolia roots....See MoreTips for making a vaulted masterbedroom feel more cozy.
Comments (11)Thanks to all! Bed will be going away. I am trying to figure out the construction part and paint color first, so my husband can get started on that. I want the ceiling to feel lower. I like the idea of ceiling paint to match walls, definitely something other than white. I like the idea of some panels on the windows. I also like the idea of the entire vault with wood, like in my 2nd picture. Closet is off the bathroom and we just had a company install closet organization...best thing ever! I love how our bathroom turned out and want to carry that same serene feeling out to the bedroom. Beth H thanks for all the pictures, I have that first one in my saved ideas. I like the false panels. If we do any beams for the vault, I like the lower profile beams, less heavy feeling. Bed will most likely stay on the window wall because of where the door into the bedroom is located and the doors to the patio are located, I do wish those windows were not on either side of the bed though. Thanks again for all the ideas. My husband is anxiously awaiting!...See Morepartim
