The Porter Paints that katiee511 was referring to is based in Louisville, KY (I grew up down the way from The Porter family), completely different animal. They are now owned by a British Company (cortault coatings). I also have a love of F&B. I used it in a bedroom (Borrowed Light) of a previous home. Gorgeous! However as often as I move and renovate, it's completely cost prohibitive for me (near 3x's what I would spend on BM aura for the same room). I try to use it in small applications. (I hope to use Minster Green on my front door). I could pour over their paint chips all day. **katiee511- I read more carefully and just realized you are painting cabinetry, for some reason I had it in my mind it was trim (I must have been really slow yesterday :), afterall you I was in the *KITCHEN* forum!) It must be that ADHD that mindstorm was referring to! If "Velvet White" isn't what you had in mind (ie too bright) and you want something a little more creamy/golden check out a color called "Indian Ivory." If you are going to have PP on the walls, I would definitely suggest Silken Touch, even if its a slight upcharge as ccinindiana had mentioned. So you won't have to repaint too soon (unless you choose). What part of IN? **ccinindiana- Congrats on your colors, I am sure you are releived to have that behind you. I would think if you went a shade lighter then you could probably cover in a single coat--but no more than two. Do you have a lot of paint left? Would it be possible to bring it in and have them lighten it--or buy some white paint and lighten yourself? I had the opposite problem on an accent wall I did in my DD's room. The saturation was less than the other three walls which made it look odd. I took the paint back and there were able to make it a deeper hue in same shade and it looked much better than the first color--and best of all, I did not need to purchase any more paint.

I was all set to go with them, but the contractor had reservations since they are out of state. I would have fought him on it, but their lead time was getting to be very long at the time, and in the meantime my neighbor referred me to her guy who had done her kitchen the previous year. I was hugely surprised to hear him say he could give me low-voc cabs for just a little bump-up in price. In all my searching, it seemed to me companies that offered this wood charged much more than we could pay. Yes, Laura88, I'm in the Bay Area--San Jose. I wish I could refer you to the guy who helped me (and his cute doggie he would bring to work!) but he moved back to Portland recently. Hey, Trailrunner! I'm glad I could show you the finished kitchen--it is indeed a working kitchen with lots of messes. I really do love the hood as it does just as promised and has been super-easy to clean. I'll try to post a pic. My water mishap involved my brain forgetting I'd plugged up the sink to clean the stove parts then wandering outside to talk to my neighbor.....yeah, lots and lots of water over the edge and all over more than half the floor. The cab guy came over and removed one toekick and several doors, and sucked out some water from the island area. Lucky me, we had big winds that day, something we rarely have. With the fans, so far (It's been a week,) it's all good. I'm especially glad the flooring hasn't peeled. My husband couldn't believe the contractor was going to install such a huge/heavy thing and thought I had way over-estimated how much air we needed to move. He's singing a different tune now. :) Isn't it so simple and clean-looking?
