Quilting won't work, alas. Its the wrong look, and also these are for pillows we will sleep on.

If you are standing the pillows up to make the bed, anything will droop - it's the nature of a fabric flange unless the material is very stiff and then not comfortable for sleep. I went through this years ago and tried everything. I even tried to rigged up supports that could be inserted when making the bed but aside from it not working it was an exercise in anal decorating ridiculousness. YMMV

Try what the guy in the video suggested - might work.

We do not sleep on shams, only pillowcases. I do have a protective liner case over our pillows. I was going to suggest finding some fabric you like, hopefully with enough body that the flange will not droop and having a seamstress make the shams. But, if you only sleep on them, does it really matter if they droop?

We only sleep on pillowcases, too. To me, shams are a decorative cover for extra bed pillows. Perhaps you could heavily starch the shams you have, but I don't know how comfortable they would be to sleep on.

I do NOT sleep on decorative or quilted shams... but I don't always use them.

I think I know what you are talking about Funky. No one sees our "sleeping pillows" other than the two of us. I remove them from the bed when I make it. The sheeting ones you could probably sleep on.

I used to use big Euro squares. Now we use four regular size sleeping pillows, stacked two each side. These are the ones we sleep on. So they are both decorative and functional, hence the envelope shams.. And then one or two decorative pillows.

Kinda like this, with the four stacked, and then the purely decorative one(s) can vary in number and shape.

It might be easiest to have the shams custom made from sheets that you know you like. You probably have someone local, but Etsy might be a resource, too. I did that to get a bedskirt that met my requirements after struggling to find one ready-made.

I use shams to sleep on, too. We have the decorative shams that match our bed quilt, and then the ”sheet” shams that we sleep on. But I don’t think any of ours have a flange. Mine are from Parachute and Company Store.

Also, I like to use a satin/silk pillowcase (not sure which one it is?).

Same as Sue, most of mine are from The Company Store but ALL of mine have the flange... and most are their cotton sateen. I also have some PB Organic cotton but I am not currently using them. I do like their organic cotton though.
