Comments (1)Oh you smooth talker..... I take full credit for pushing the camera button and that's all I do, believe me. I think the ability to post multiple photos per post is limited/allowed by the particular forum itself. Here, you can post many in a row. (I don't know the limit.) Elsewhere, it's one and one only, per post. Photobucket is very easy and useful online, in case you want to look at that as a photo storage provider. When I am limited to one photo per post, I find it easiest to then go on in the same post to include links to more photos for people to view i.e. photobucket URLs. like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/poochella/New%20Dahlias%202005/aerialviewbigbed.jpg That's the easiest way around the one photo limit I've found. What I want to look at is your and others' photos! So please promise to post some when able. Hope that helps....See MoreI don't know where to post this so I thought I'd start here...
Comments (8)GOTCHA!! I see the whole picture here! Thank you all for your imput! It is very understandable and I see things a lot clearer now. Choosing non-married couples makes sense for a lot of reasons. I am no longer miffed and will be very supportive. Actually, I am kind of glad it happened this way because it will allow my fiance a better understanding of the relationship I have with my own god daughter. He is such a wonderful partner and father, that any child he is able to have an intimate relationship with would be truly blessed anyway. No - I am not Catholic, but the rest of my family is. To Carla35 - Yes I do know what it means to be a God Parent. I am a God mother to my best friends' daughter. We baptized our son last July so I am very familiar with the Catholic religions practices regarding God parents and the sacrament of baptism. To Colleenoz - My fiance's neices and nephews not calling me aunt doesn't bother me. I used it as an example for you all to better understand my relationship with the children. It is up to their parents and them as to what they call me and if they ever decide to even call me "aunt". Also - we DO have tentative wedding dates set for either November 1st or 8th of 2008. We plan to marry in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Thank you all for your comments!...See MoreWhy Beets Don't Come Up (Trying This Post Again....)
Comments (6)I have thought of pre-sprouting, as Jake you know I keep my peas in moist paper toweling in a ziplock bag till I see the beginnings of sprouts, and I have had good luck with that as long as I handle them gently and look forward enough on the weather forecast before I start them sprouting so that I'll have a warmish day in which to plant. I used to believe people when they said you cannot transplant things that have long taproots (which includes beets) but when I started doing wintersowing I did discover same thing as you, dbarron, that if you do it early and carefully, it can be done. I've considered making some newspaper cups filled with potting soil, then pre-sprouting in a coffee filter, and slipping each sprout into one of those. The newspaper cups then can transplant right into the garden without the plants knowing any better. But seems awfully labor intensive for as many beets as I would like to grow. I started wondering if germination would be any better if the seeds were free of the "pods", and so I have been "playing" this morning with breaking open some of the beet "pods" and I'm finding hardly any that have little seeds inside. Some have actually some white powdery residue inside. Hmmmm. This could be actually the top reason why I might not have germination. These are seed "packed for 2018". So it's clear that there might be a point to actually cracking a few just to see what they look like inside, as a test. I'm using small needlenose pliers to gently squeeze the pods till they crack open so as not to harm any seeds inside, as might happen if I smashed the pods with a hammer, and I wear magnifying glasses so I can see the tiny seed better. I had in mind to try germinating some of these tiny seed after extracting from the pod and finding out how long it took. Now, I'm thinking I'd better buy some more seed, maybe a different variety, from a different source. *Sigh*....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
