Okay which is the best light for my kitchen, pictures included
Comments (11)Amy, you're right - 49$ is a trend proof price LOL. I sent DH the link to the milano drum pendant that Les posted and he liked it and will look at all the choices tonight. Polka dot, yes, I'm not sure about the difference in color between the shade and the cabinets, but maybe it's best that it doesn't exact match, blend in and get boring and matchy matchy. LOL Tryingtogrow - when I read that I was wondering - what the heck is she talking about, we don't have any guns - then I looked and boy it certainly looks like that doesn't it. Well those "guns" are the new environmentally correct light bulbs. My table is 36"x72" and it's far enough away from the island that it can take something large enough and appropriate for the kitchen table. In addition I'll be painting it a caramel color on the little bit of wall I have with a blue ceiling. I also worry that, as you can see in the picture of the fan, I have a group of floor to ceiling glass door cabinets for display so I don't want to completely direct the focus from that. Thanks for all your help. Sky...See Morebest lighting K for kitchens kitchen lighting intensity
Comments (5)I go with a higher K in my workshop and not to worried about CRI. For my living areas, dining room, living room and bedrooms I go with a lower K but a high CRI is important, especially if you have natural wood in your home. Also differences in CRI and K may change the appearance of your walls, carpet, sofa , lampshades, portraits, etc... For areas that you want a true color go with a higher CRI. 80 is fine for a garage and may be OK in kitchen unless you have stuff displaying like art, colorful vases, collector plates, woodwork etc... Of course a higher CRI is always the better choice. If color quality is important, seriously consider something in the 90s. My kitchen at 2700K 80+ CRI?? bulbs that should be changed to a 90+ CRI 3000K in the future NO HIGHER THAN 4000 for kitchen 5000 workshop 3000- for living areas bedroom 2700-3000 You know a s I type this I realize that this is all subjective. Comments (5)Some recommendations are listed here. Personally I think strip lights give a more "full" appearance as since they evenly distribute the light. Also, as Joe T. said, definitely stick with LED!...See MoreBest type of light fixture w only 1 light in kitchen - & paint colors!
