They need more light. I'd put them outside and transplant them when they get a set of true leaves. All but the basil do well in cooler temps. I'm not sure when your frost date is but the cool weather plants might be able to go in the ground. Swiss chard gets pretty big and isn't a good container plant but all the others will do fine in pots if that's what you are planning on doing. I'd definitely plant the basil in a pot(s). If you are going to grow them inside you'll likely need some sort of grow light. Congrats on your sprouts. Karyn

I guess it depends on the mist heads you have, i use netafim coolnet foggers and they have small ADV`s inline to each head, its an egg shaped unit with a spring inside that pushes on the internal tube. They come in different pressure ratings, the ones i have open at 58psi and close at 26psi. When the solenoid opens it pressurizes the line from ~26psi to 58psi at which point the heads instantly fire up (no ramping of the spray). When the solenoid closes, the line pressure drops to 26psi and the ADV automatically shuts off the flow..no drips. With currency conversion the adv`s wouldnt cost more than $1 each. A 4 way cross head assembly,adv and hanger would probably be around $6. Good for a 5ft circle coverage Cold water inlet solenoid valves from washing machines are very reliable (and sometimes cost nothing), they run on mains voltage though so you`d need to mount them indoors out of the weather for safety. To run one with your timer you`d need probably need to use a 24v coil relay with mains rated contacts. Mine runs quite happily with cycle times of 1 second on/60 seconds off although i generally use 3 seconds on/3 minutes off to give the solenoid an easy life. Well, I saw a good price on a new Green Thumb timer, model 5945. It's pretty. Snazzy even. It's got a diaphram valve for longer battery life, nice. Quieter than the ball valve models too. It's going back to the store tomorrow. The older Green Thumb timer with the cranky ball valve was actually better. You could set any program of any length, then press the secret key combo and the Mist Mode would activate. The new timer takes two big steps backward. First, you can't set any one program longer than three hours. That's it. There are seven programs, plus Mist. You can ONLY use Mist on that 8th setting. And of course it's limited to three hours. No way around it. You can't set Mist on two separate programs to extend the time. So, I need to have the Misters running from 11AM to 5PM, and that's impossible without buying a SECOND timer ! Maybe that will turn out to be the lowest-cost way, but I don't like it.

LOL...:) Of course your plant will produce chilis. Many pepper plants are self pollinating and alot of times only need to be brushed up against or have a little breeze to do the job. Lack of sunlight will slow things down, you will probbly never have a monster of a plant but you should not have problems otherwise. Be careful not to overwater, it is better to let a chili plant get overly dry than to overwater. I wait until I see some droop in the leaves before watering. Keeping a light on it cannot hurt and definitly let it get as much direct light as you can. good luck..:) kendra
