Hello, I find myself on this site pretty often these days, but this is my first post, hopefully I did enough diligence to not repeat an oft asked question. We're in the process of re-modelling our main floor, part of that is adding a bathroom. We have an empty bathroom with drywall on the walls and tile in the shower, and I'm looking for a good glass door for the 32"x42" shower (3 walls and an opening). My wife was insistent on a "Frameless" shower door, until she saw the first couple of bids ($1300-1500). I'm happy to get some sort of frame because I'm worried that such a small shower will be a wet mess with a fully frameless door. We've shopped around for semi-frameless doors, from Holcam, Arizona, and have a bid from a glass guy for an Agalite door. Our tile guy also offered to install the door for us if we get it. So now, I'm choosing between an Agalite door installed for $950 and buying our own door, and I stumbled upon this door: http://www.bathauthority.com/shower-door-elegance.html But can't find any information about it online that isn't from the manufacturer. That is the nicest looking and least expensive of all of our options, so I'm wondering what's wrong with it? Does anyone have any experience with these doors? How can a 3/8" glass door be so inexpensive? Is this thing going to come crashing down on my children's feet?

Janesylvia, I have a bathroom with a corner shower unit that (in a small space), and when installed, I opted for a door that swung both ways. This was done 5 years ago, and it turns out that the door leaks through the vertical gap, although not a ton. When I recently remodeled my master bath, I had the glass installer (a different company from the other bathroom), install a vertical strip on my corner shower unit, making the door open only out. This seal has stopped all leakage of water. In my limited eperience, it seems the vertical gasket or seal is much more likely to keep your shower from leaking. It was a little frustrating to always have a towel over the bathroom rug to absorb leaking water from the shower. (in addition to concerns over continual dampness on the floor)

lillo, thanks for your response. Open wood is the ceiling - it's wood tongue and groove 14' high, so I can't put a shower head coming down from the ceiling. The bathroom has tile up to door height 80". Above door height it's mahogany paneling. That's how the original bath was done and I wan't to keep the look. I'm having the paneling replaced because I can't match it and some of the room is changing. The existing paneling in the bathroom is over 50 years old and it still looks fine, no water damage above the shower area. The same paneling is used in other areas of the house. The walk-in shower is in a corner with glass panel on the side, open on the end. The glass panel is 75" h and has a metal support arm at 80"h to hold the panel in place. I hope this all makes sense. So the shower arm for the rain shower head needs to either come straight out of the paneling, or it needs to come out from the tile in an S shape in order to have the shower head "hang" over the middle of the shower and point straight down. My main concern is, how wet would the area around the shower arm actually get if that area were placed at an 84" height? Would it look strange to have a pipe coming out from wood? How common is it for there to be a leak in the shower arm plumbing? I sort of think the S curve shower arm would look a bit weird. The design is all straight lines and square corners in this bath.

The front of a panel is not allowed in a bathroom. If the panel is in another room and backs up to the bathroom it will be fine since it is inside the wall.
