You guys are great! Thanks so much for your opinions. My 1st choice would be to paint all walls, then install cab's, but I'm not sure I'll be there by that time. I am so busy w/ work that I don't have time to figure out what counters I'm going w/ & just want to get the cabinets in. I will definitely prime before, & if it ends up the cabinets can't get in for awhile & I have time to ck out countertops, I might be able to pull it off. annkh, that tool is awesome! I'm going to keep it & when I do get to the countertops, I'll use this tool. Thanks for sharing. cold weather - ha, I think cold weather is evil too!!! Very funny! I can tell you, I will not be in this house for another kitchen reno so if they put in a few too many nails, the next person can deal w/ that!! schicksal, my floors are already done....finished....ahhhh, one thing I don't have to worry about anymore! Cathy, Don't ya just love old houses? I can so relate to your old floors that were out of level. You are fortunate that your walls and floor are straight and level now... I remember our contractor saying the floor will be "flat, not level"! It is nice that you will have inset doors and drawers. Getting the boxes is is exciting progress! -Kim

What a nice kitchen! You must be very excited. I know what you mean about sneaking away to look at your beautiful stone. My cabinets are still in their boxes in the garage, but DH brought one of the glass cabinets in the house so that I can "touchy feel" it every day! He thinks I'm nuts! Barb

Deedles-I am so new to this stuff but I'll try to give you the cabinet dimensions. It is a slaller sized U kitchen- so starting on the left is a 12" wall cabinet and 12" base drawers, then 30 inch stove and 30 inch cabinet above, 15 inch upper cabinet, 21 inch easy reach corner cabinet, and then another 15 inch cabinet.Underneath is a 36 inch easy reach base cabinet. Then the 36 inch base cabinet for the sink with window above. To the right of the window is a 30 inch and 15 inch uppers. The 15 inch cabinet has a side access door instead of an end panel. On the lowers is a 36 inch super lazy susan, (part of peninsula), dishwasher, and 18 base drawers. To gain more storage, we also added three 21 inch lower cabinets and a 12 inch corner cabinet on the table side of the peninsula. We had to extend the wall 8 inches to make room for this. We have the table on the eat-in side of the peninsula. That area has an 8 1/2 foot opening into a large 28 x 40 family room. It use to be just over a 9 ft opening but this is where we extended the back kitchen wall. In hte kitchen are between the cooling area and the refrigerator wall is a door that leads into our study/computer room. Hope this helps :)
