Actually SissyZ, we usually drink sassafras tea with ramps. Moonshine interferes with the delicate taste of the ramps. Although Emeril has quite a nice recipe for preparing them with Pacific salmon and serving with white wine. The trick to mastering the odors of the ramp is to have a festival so the entire town eats ramps and nobody notices the smell. Ray :)

We planted strawberry plants from 2 separate sources last year -- the South patches' plants are tall, strong and supporting the weight of large, red berries while the North patch is rather thin and the small berries are laying on the straw. We have been picking about 25 ripe berries a day for the last week or so (and several more berries lost to the compost bin due to nibble/hole damage). Began applying an organic spray to the patch which seems to have reduced the amount of damage. Berries seem to be a bit more sour this season but still tasty. Our raspberry patch is growing nice -- filling in and green but no other activity. Was glad that they grew back so nice after the rabbits ate all of them to the ground over the winter. Not sure if we will get fruit this season now or not... Picked our first snap peas of the season last night. Looks like we will have lots more in the next few days. Tomatoes, chili peppers, and bell peppers have not flowered yet... Growing several other veges as well but nothing close to maturity.

Beautiful photography! I eat stinging nettles steamed & dandelions & pig weed. Planted ramp seeds 1 1/2 yrs ago & they just sprouted this spring!?! My personal suggestion, when harvesting ramps, I wouldn't pull the entire plant out of the ground. I see roots on them in your photo. Just cut very low down at soil level, but leave the plant in the ground. It will re-root & not be over-harvested, as if often the case with this plant.

This is Sunburst F1 patty pan. It is very productive. I had so many squashes just from one plant that I got tired of them. They are very good tasting and can be used the same way as zucchini when young. At the end of the season I let them to grow and mature, at this stage I use them for decorations only, since they are very colorful.
