Actually I think you could do well going either route. What the guys further North do by root pruning and cutting most of the plant back does a lot to stimulate strong new root growth and over all health to the plant. I have a jalapeno plant from last season in a three gallon pot that is looking pretty bad so I'm going to try doing the severe pruning top and bottom and re-plant it with some fresh soil. I figure there's nothing to be lost by trying. I also have lots of seedling chillies that are struggling with all the cold we are experiencing. They will be coming in each night until this latest cold blast is over.

Caelian, very good eyes. surprised anyone would notice that. The second row in the first picture is Aswad Eggplant. First year growing them, Iraqi variety that can weigh well over 3 pounds... well see I'm keeping my fingers cross on them. If they do well I'll share the seeds with who ever wants them. Caelian, please tell me all your plant are not gone? You worked so hard on them. jifjifjif, I keep staring a my pepper plants too. The heat coming off the supper hots may eventually blind me but at least I can still taste them. Mmm Mmm can't wait for that sweet heat! I'm guna pickle, roast, dry, stuff and bake, powder, grill and smoke em. Any thing else I may have missed.. Oh Yea eat them right off the plant. Going to go to Cross Country Nurseries soon.. andyroo, Nice variety of peppers that you have there. I have about a 15 day head start on you and my peppers are about 5 inches tall. When I'm growing peppers, or any plants from seed, I always want to make sure that they never dry out, because this is deadly for younger plants. I start all of my seeds in Jiffy Pellets and put them inside one of those plastic domes, they provide great moisture. My sprouts stay in there until their little leaves start hitting the roof. Once out they go into 3 & 1/2 inch pots similar to the ones you are using and I continue to make sure that they donÂt dry out (it got real cold here this past week so we had the heat on and I found myself having to check my plants every 12 hours or so because the heat was drying them out real fast). My other big concern is that my plants are as close to the light as I can get them, in fact some of my bigger plants are now touching the light and it never seems to hurt them. How old are your bulbs? I ask this because my bulbs were at least 4 years old at the beginning of the growing season. I started some Morning Glories under those bulbs and they started to look real leggy, so I went out and got a new set of bulbs & this did wonders. My Morning Glories really started to take off and everything else has been doing real well also. What ever you decide I wouldn't worry too much because once the peppers get out into the real sun they're bound to go gangbusters. Peppers are real hardy and I've never had any trouble once I got them outdoors. Best of luck to you & keep growing those peppers plants.

chile plants are very resilient. It could be the overwatering and it definitly could be overfertilizing, however, if you can fix the problem they will probably grow new growth. The stems look healthy to me, it just looks like the leaves have drooped all the way. I would pick all the chiles and flowers off the plants. Leave them alone, no fertilizer, no water and see what happenes. I am willing to bet you will see new growth fairly quickly. Otherwise, the only way to really control Mother Nature's watering plan is to plant in pots that can have better drainage or be moved when a heavy rain is coming through kendra
