Kirkhall, without doubt, that's the easiest, cheapest option here -- I looked at Lowes online and found nothing bigger than 36" and told myself, "Well, that's what's available". This would eliminate the need for a separate door. Everything could fit together in one room, nothing stacked and room for the cart. Thanks for sharing this! Yes, blocking the hallway would be a negative. These doors are 24" each, and my hallway's in the neighborhood of 42" ... so that would mean a person could turn sideways and scoot by these opened doors, but it wouldn't be convenient. However, realistically, if the washer door is open, it's blocking the hallway, so does it really matter if the bifold door ALSO blocks the hallway? Choices! Thanks, Kirkhall!

This happened to us when DH nailed the baseboard on the wall between the laundry and kitchen. The door came off track. When we renovate I will replace or remove. However, this was builder grade. On our extension I added three pocket doors. The one I had put in for the powder room is a solid core door, not thinner than most doors, as I wanted as much sound-dampening as possible with such a device. We used Johnson Hardware - not the home depot variety which runs $ 40 or so, but commercial grade. Look at the Johnson site under 1500 Commercial Grade and you will also find non-standard size frames (door max thickness 1 3/4"). Use a good carpenter.

We had to re-do our laundry closet configuration last year to be able to get side by side machines into the same space. We used to have stacked front loader with dryer on top. Ours is located in the master bathroom. We had bi-fold doors prior which made for nice ease of use and clean lines/look when closed. We tended to keep the bi-folds open a fair bit however to allow more air flow to the washer to prevent mold or mildew. It made for an unkept look with the doors open in our opinion, but was better than mildew. Anyhow, in an effort to keep the space workable if and when repair time comes, we choose not to do bi-folds because the bi-folds would have to be removed and rehung for machine or plumbing servicing. We have friends who could not get their bi-folds to ever hang properly after being taken down and we thought why not hang drapes or curtains instead of sliding doors or bi-folds in our situation? We did put up a nice rod and have drapes instead of doors until we come up with a better idea. I like the look of closed doors better, but really, the air flow to the washer is great in our case now when I have the drapes closed. It was a give and take in our case. I have a pocket door in my WC similar to your drawing, as well as both of my master closets. Swinging doors take up space, and both of my closets are out of view. Personally we leave our closet doors open 99% of the time, but shut them if we have guests over and will be giving a tour etc. As far as the WC toilet, I'm very happy with our decision to do the pocket door. My opinion is that it feels silly to shut/lock the main door to such a large bathroom, if we need to "use the toilet" we generally leave the main master bathroom door open for the "other half" to use sink/mirror/etc. It seems weird to me, once a master bathroom gets so large, to just have the toilet sitting out in the open so that's why I'm a fan of somewhat enclosing it for a little sense of privacy. Again, swinging doors take up space so IMO I'd never do that for a small WC. While the "mini room" does afford you some privacy, once in a while we do prefer to shut the pocket door. Maybe 20% of the time.
