Cleaning shower with porcelain wall tiles and stone mosaic floor?
Comments (7)Thank you Kimram :) Which "mood" glass did you choose? Yes, I clean all three materials with the 50/50 solution. Remember, I don't have a shower as mentioned in by the OP. Yes the grout lines are sealed as well as the glass and tumbled travertine. I didn't want to darken the travertine so we used a water based sealer, not an enhancer. Same for the granite countertop. Sealing glass tiles before grouting is important because the fine lines and "crazing" in some glasses WILL be stained by the grout. I don't believe you can seal polished travertine. The sealer can't penetrate. My bathroom floor is 18" porcelain. I use a steam mop on all the tile in my house, including the travertine in the entry. I use a microfiber cloth and the water/alcohol to wipe down the travertine and glass on the walls, on the granite, wipe down appliances, windows...it's become my go to cleaner. Use a spray on granite polisher ever once in awhile. Good luck :) Can't wait to see your beautiful finished bathroom. Monica...See MoreSpeed Clean, Light Clean or Deep Clean?
Comments (6)Update: I finally realized my great house cleaners were not so great after all. The feather duster was not touching the dust and things were rearranged to make it look like they had been cleaned and toilets were black under the rim. One day I had to leave the house for about 45 minutes and when I arrived back the cleaners were gettingin their car to leave. Hmmm....so much for cleaning my house. Yes, they were fired. I now have a truly great one person house cleaner that is very thourough and everything is actually cleaned. It takes her 4-5 hours to clean my 2,500 sq. ft. house....See MoreSoap scum on tumbled stone shower floor
Comments (1)What do people with marble vanities use for soap? The marble company came out and polished the etching out of my new vanity top and said it was the acid in the soap. It was apparently on the rim of the bottom of the liquid soap bottle that had sat there for 24 hrs. Same with a bottle of hand lotion. Now I'm scared to use it until I find out what to use first....See Morehow to clean tumbled marble
Comments (21)Tumbled marble looks great, but needs special care. Yes, it should be sealed periodically with a good penetrating sealer. It should also be cleaned periodically with a neutral PH cleaner and a soft brush. It should also be dried, either with a fan or your towel after use. As to the soap, understand that bar soap contains animal fat as a filler and binder...with the possible exception of Dove. Use a neutral PH liquid soap and avoid the dreaded soap scum...you know what a glass door in the shower looks like? Put that on the floor and there you go.......See MoreMary Beth Tate
