Thank you Gina. I guess that when we sell the house and the new home owners don't want an island, they can take the floating floor up and maybe repurpose it somewhere else in the house. We are leaving a (luxury) vinyl tile under the engineered hardwood floor as it said on the website (Bruce) that one can do this, and that floor is in good condition. I'm just bored with it. Anyway, thank you for your speedy answer.

The DriCore subfloor is an option. So too is gluing down using a HIGH END urethane adhesive ($2-$3/sf) as your vapour barrier. An incredibly well educated installer is fully capable of gluing down the wood in a "below grade" application using one of these high end, "limitless" adhesives. They are not cheap. They can be as much as $3/sf for your application. They are faster than installing the DriCore ($1.67/sf + $$ labour to install) and can work out to be the same price at the end of the day (still need to glue the planks to the DriCore = $1/sf for glue + $$ labour). The ONE thing DriCore will do is maintain your warranty. But at this point, the installer has already BLOWN your warranty and now owes you a new floor. At the VERY LEAST the installer owes you a new floor in the ABOVE GRADE part of your home. The installation instructions clearly state "glue down". The installer is still supposed to have basic knowledge of installation instructions. A quick read would have told him/her that you were asking for something IMPOSSIBLE with this floor. He/she would have then RAISED an objection. You could have overridden the objection (and thereby put yourself in the hot seat) or you could have stopped and said, "What? Wait a minute. What do you mean "glue down only"? There is a tremendous amount of miscommunication here. It will be tricky to negotiate a compromise. Did you hire an OUTSIDE subcontractor to install this? Or did you purchase both the flooring AND the installation from the flooring company (one-stop-shop)? Your answer is VITALLY important to how this is going to work.

@pinkysonpatki6 - I have two heights of vanities. One was custom made by my father and it is shorter - its a box mounted on the wall. Its for a half bath. My other vanities are all the same height but mounted at different heights so the tops of the sinks are at counter height. All of my vanity sinks are different heights. Anywhere from a tall vessel to medium to low height ”drop in” to a regular ”drop in”. If all of my sinks were the same then each cabinet would have been mounted with the top at the same height on the wall. You don’t want a tall vessel mounted on a counter height cabinet as it very cumbersome to wash your hands, brush your teeth etc unless you are tall and I am not. I just measured the height of the top of the sinks in two of my baths downstairs and the top of the sinks are 37” above the floor. - a little more than counter height.
