Well, after running around checking several places, and not finding the vinegar, I caved and bought a generic RU product (41% Gly vs. 50-some for RU). I had a HORRIBLE day yesterday... You know when you wake up you can just FEEL that the day is going to go south right from the get-go? It was one of those, and continued right up til I went to bed...but the only part that is applicable to this thread is the part where I get to the site, grab my jug from the backseat, and then go around to the passenger's side, where I had put the RU on the floor. I open the door, bend over to grab it, and get attacked by yellow jackets. I thought I had run over a nest or something, so was looking all around trying to find where they were coming from...turns out they were IN my car door- in the crick of the door where you don't see it unless the door is open...HUGE nest...got stung a couple times...they were very POd at me. Killing something, anything...weeds worked...was a stress reliever for the first 1/2 of the day that had already gone badly. We won't talk about the rest of the day after that just suffice it to say that it just kept going in the same pattern all afternoon into the evening. I haven't been up there to check progress yet today, but it was pretty hot yesterday, and by the time I got done spraying the whole thing, the first parts had a slight yellow tinge to them. I bet it's nice & crunchy today...damned weeds...take THAT! HA!

Actually, I was going to wait to take a picture of the new wall color but as I was sitting on the sofa I noticed that the red bucket with gary and white mop picked up the colors of the art piece. And so I went to get my camera. Jusr when I was ready to take the picture my black and white Border Collie laid down at his gray silver bowl to eat. And so now, the black was repeated and ancored at the mid bottom as well as at the mid top. (God always creates such perfect scenes for us to capture.) It was only after I loaded the picture up on photobucket that I realized that even the curve of the cord (which will be covered) was repeated in the curve of the alignment of the art, bucket and dog. Wow! How cool is that! Thanks again. Oh, well. Glad you told me about not putting up the art right away. Paint seems to dry here pretty quickly since I am in the desert. I ended up adding a small amount of Taupe to my EK Adobe gallon of paint for the accent walls(s). For some reason - the Adobe was reading a bit green next to the Taupe which of course has more red in it. So now the new improved Adobe color is very, very nice with the Taupe on the main walls.

How long to wait for oil paint on trim to dry before sanding floors? Is this a joke or trick question?? The trim should be removed BEFORE the floor is sanded so that you can get as close to the wall as possible and not ding up the trim with the sander. If you try to sand a floor with the trim attached using a drum sander. You are going to end up with a ridge that will be felt and noticed approx. 1/2" in the floor out from the trim. A plate sander oscillates which basically means that the plate holding the sanding pad vibrates. Depending on the old finish and grit of the pad being used that action can cause the sander to suddenly move (jerk) a few inches in any direction. Meaning that your trim is going to take a few hits as you sand close to it along the walls. So the trim should be removed. That way you it will not get dinged up during sanding, Will not get messed up by any floor stain or finish and can be sanded, painted and allowed to dry as the floor finish dries. You will be much happier with the results and not have to go back and touch up the trim by sanding with it in placed.

The stonework on the chimneys has been completed. The roofers came last Saturday and got about half of the remaining roofing work done. Waiting to hear from our builder when they'll be back to finish the rest. A couple of the missing windows are now in. Still need to get some doors installed but hopefully today or Monday on those (though they don't concern me as much). We've thunderstorms coming tonight and tomorrow and then a fair amount of rain over the next week so we'll see how it's doing. I am still concerned about starting any of the insulation until we are absolutely sure that we're fully dry but I also don't want to unnecessarily delay things.
