Is Restoration Hardware bedding worth it?
Comments (75)I bought a set of RH Belgian linen sheets expecting them to last a lifetime. I Inherited a set of linen sheets from my French grandmother - who inherited them from her mother – and they are still soft and pristine. The RH bottom sheet started developing small holes within the second year and by the end of the third year the bottom sheet is unuseable. I alternate my sheets frequently and wash them in warm water with no bleach. When I contacted RH they asked me for my receipt which of course after three years I no longer have so basically I am minus a fitted bottom sheet and very disappointed. I will not recommend these sheets as they are expensive and do not hold up to normal use....See MoreAccording to Restoration Hardware's
Comments (48)ttodd, I agree! I do like the coloring in the store. I actually think the palette they have would be a brilliant background for colorful art etc. I have gray walls similar to what they have and I plan on adding color to my design plan. I think if they would have kept all of the same furnishings and just tweaked the color towards gray, I think it would have been much more successful. I just think they've become a caricature of themselves. I don't care for all of the weird aviator stuff nor the overly masculine aesthetic. My style actually is a bit masculine, but they've gone over the top with it imho. I do still think I see some good items like their curtains, their fixtures, some of their smaller accessories. I like some of their furniture, but don't see the mass appeal for their charred oak. I think for it to work, you have to have it throughout your house or it won't flow from room to room. Lastly, someone mentioned that you couldn't do a whole house in Pottery barn. I disagree with that statement. I actually do think that you could. It might not be thought provoking but it would be a warm and lively, honest space....See MoreRestore Hardware - Silver Sage or Light Silver Sage?
Comments (2)I know what you mean. Light silver sage does not seem to be a lighter version of SS. I don't have any experience with coordinating the RH colors, but I'm wondering whether Blue Sage might not be a better match than Dusk since it is in the same collection, whereas Dusk is in the Shore Paint Collection. Here is a link that might be useful: RH paints...See MoreHow to change from traditional to transitional & contemporary decor
Comments (12)I was in a funk when I bought that ugly sofa but will work on other things first. So much brown! I also am very tired of the cabinet & considering placing TV on fireplace wall vs. no tv and large decorative fireplace wall item. Our books & records are important to us; we don't have space for bookshelves elsewhere. This room is used primarily for reading, listening to music, talking with friends. Will rearrange shelves as suggested by deegw (above) & add some colorful decorative objects Paint the shelves? Will definitely replace fireplace screen as well as wrought iron railing going upstairs. Any advice for end tables, lighting/ lamp ideas? I like the teak coffee table suggestion; I was also considering large ottoman. Accessory color ideas? The dog stays!! Thank you. Appreciate your comments so very much....See MoreJAN MOYER
