cherry espresso cabinets/ what color quartz?
Comments (1)It partially depends on how much contrast you like and how much light you have in your kitchen. I went lighter because I like some contrast, but also because I didn't want it to be too dark. On the other hand I saw my cabinets which are very dark, installed with Uba Tuba granite in another house my contractor was doing, and It looked wonderful and very rich. The difference was I have a single kitchen window and a bow window in the livingroom it opens into, and the other kitchen was completely open to the living room which had a full wall of floor to ceiling windows. You need to assess your own space, lighting and tolerance for darkness. I would certainly increase lighting if I went with dark cabinets and countertop, with several different "levels" of lighting with dimmers, like one or more large ceiling lights, recessed lights along cabinets and UC lights. That will give you the ability to increase the light to a comfortable level on dim, dreary days as well as tone it down when it isn't necessary. Comments (19)Ok Guys, I went back to the design center today and here are some new choices: Tumbled Marble Subway Tile Emperador Brown: The tumbled marble also comes in 4"X4". OR Tumbled travertine 4"X4" Chocolate color: I emailed the designer to ask of the trvertine came in subway tiles, too. Hopefully, she will get back to me soon. My pics of the floor tile did not come out great this time, but here is is with two different carpet choices (in the design center it was almost identical to the carpet on the right, but in the pic it looks identical to the carpet on the left!): Also, I came across this REALLY pretty mosiac tile (I have NO idea how much any of this costs, I've put in an email to the designer to see!). I was thinking of getting one of the 4"X4" tiles (either the marble or the travertine) as the backsplash and then having them put one of these mosaic tiles centered over the stove cooktop. What do you guys think? Here's a pic of the mosaic tile: If the mosaic is too expensive, then I think I may go with subway tiles for the backsplash. I think the subway tiles would look wierd with the mosaic. Let me know what you guys think! You have been really helpful so far! Thanks so much!...See Moredoes this granite and quartz look ok with cherry cabinets?
Comments (11)Love that granite, especially with your cab selection. Yummy! I looked at Caesarstone's Creamy Marfil, too. I'm trying to remember if it leans warm or cool but I can't. If it's not quite the right undertone with that stunning granite, you could also consider Caesarstone's Buttermilk. A neighbor installed this quartz in her kitchen with cherry-stained alder cabs. It's really lovely. I found pics of a kitchen with CS Buttermilk, a green granite island and stained cabs, similar to what you're considering. (IMO, the wall color isn't the best choice, but that's IMO and perhaps it looks better IRL than it does from a photo on a computer monitor.) Comments (4)A lot of people here are going to say you shouldn't raise the breakfast bar, that the counter height peninsula is more "current". However I can see where you might want to raise it because your sink is there. If you leave it one height maybe a bigger sink would help? Regarding your actual question about counters, I am also looking for a light quartz/granite (also budget lol). In my area (Mid-Atlantic), Q Quartz seems to be well priced. Also Hanstone. One store showed me a gorgeous Fantasy Brown Quartzite (real stone) that was fairly well-priced but had too much movement for my cabinets. And of course the lower priced granites are well-priced but I haven't found need I love yet. BTW, I love your cabinets and I'm glad you're not painting them!...See Morejtkaybean
