cherry espresso cabinets/ what color quartz?
Comments (1)It partially depends on how much contrast you like and how much light you have in your kitchen. I went lighter because I like some contrast, but also because I didn't want it to be too dark. On the other hand I saw my cabinets which are very dark, installed with Uba Tuba granite in another house my contractor was doing, and It looked wonderful and very rich. The difference was I have a single kitchen window and a bow window in the livingroom it opens into, and the other kitchen was completely open to the living room which had a full wall of floor to ceiling windows. You need to assess your own space, lighting and tolerance for darkness. I would certainly increase lighting if I went with dark cabinets and countertop, with several different "levels" of lighting with dimmers, like one or more large ceiling lights, recessed lights along cabinets and UC lights. That will give you the ability to increase the light to a comfortable level on dim, dreary days as well as tone it down when it isn't necessary. Comments (19)Ok Guys, I went back to the design center today and here are some new choices: Tumbled Marble Subway Tile Emperador Brown: The tumbled marble also comes in 4"X4". OR Tumbled travertine 4"X4" Chocolate color: I emailed the designer to ask of the trvertine came in subway tiles, too. Hopefully, she will get back to me soon. My pics of the floor tile did not come out great this time, but here is is with two different carpet choices (in the design center it was almost identical to the carpet on the right, but in the pic it looks identical to the carpet on the left!): Also, I came across this REALLY pretty mosiac tile (I have NO idea how much any of this costs, I've put in an email to the designer to see!). I was thinking of getting one of the 4"X4" tiles (either the marble or the travertine) as the backsplash and then having them put one of these mosaic tiles centered over the stove cooktop. What do you guys think? Here's a pic of the mosaic tile: If the mosaic is too expensive, then I think I may go with subway tiles for the backsplash. I think the subway tiles would look wierd with the mosaic. Let me know what you guys think! You have been really helpful so far! Comments (27)I consider myself a messy cook and always wait until I am finished to clean up my mess/dirty dishes; but, seriously, how messy can cooking and clean-up get?!? I would make that overhang one level without thinking twice. It is a more modern look, gives a huge prep space, counter-height stools are more comfortable to sit at for young and old, and people sitting at the counter will not feel like a barrier is in front of them when talking to those in the kitchen. You are going to lose your outlets when you make the top one level unless you put in pop-up outlets in the counter....See MoreQuartz to go with SW High Reflective White or Extra White Cabinets
Comments (32)101streitired. looks very nice. could I offer one tiny bit of advice? thanks! The window. what you have is all very white and very solid. the mini blind is my pet peeve over kitchen windows. let me show you a photo shop of a new window treatment, and possibly a sconce. ( realize you can't do a pendant, and I know you have the trim piece across the front. but at least look at the window treatments) don't be afraid to add some cutting boards and greenery to the mix either...See Moreloobab
