Oh My, I think my co-worker screwed up his green beans again...
Comments (2)First, properly processed green beans do not require acid and only need to be PC'd 25 minutes for quarts. There isn't enough information to know what went wrong. I'm not sure the canner was vented before the weight was applied. If they are "spoiling" then that would indicate the jars weren't sealed and that is entirely separate from the canning times and use of the canner. To determine the cause of that you'd have to go back to how the jars and lids were prepared, how the beans were packed and the lids applied. But the biggest issue seems to be that your co-worker hasn't invested the 5 or 10 minutes it would take to go to the NCHFP or one of the many Extension sites where the current USDA guide is posted to get proper instructions for use of a pressure canner and processing of green beans. You can't fix stupid. Carol...See MoreOh-oh what's going on with my NOID?
Comments (9)Hey NC, Your plant looks fine, just do not start fertilizing her too much. As for my plants yes, the reds are turning darker, the yellows that are suppose to have red veining or red colors like Ruby Gold from Oz, Sherbert Town, Firestorm from JJs, Penang Peach, Lava Flow start to develop their reds. Up until the heat wave Sherbert town was solid Yelow, Jackie was solid Yellow, Kimo was more yellow now pink and orange, and Musk rainbow is loking more purple around the edges. So your plumies fine. As for Sheer Beauty that is another one I had 2 of, one from the source Anucha and another one from a friend who I think got it from BBB. Brad does have Sheer Beauty from time to time so you need to check out his site as it sells out quickly. I ended up getting rid of both of my SB as they did not perform well, did not look like its pic, save your money NC. JL Dane is another one that does not peform well.... So save your money. Get a purple Jack or a JL Golden Pagoda before Dane or SB. Golden Ray from JJ's is also nice and will perform to a degree in cooler temps and if you get in to the mid 80s plus GR is a stunner. Ok hoped that helped....See MoreOh no, I opened my window and the cold hurt my plants
Comments (6)This sounds like a question that only someone in a stupor could ask. What were you THINKING, Hooray? Opening a window when its zero degrees outside? That's tantamount to being locked up in the state mental hospital for insanity. (I am just kidding you...don't take me seriously. I sprained my ankle and am delirious on Lortabs at the moment after a very painful ordeal yesterday). I actually can't imagine it being that cold. I have a coat on when its 55F. I hope your plants bounce back, but what gives me even more hope is that places like the Home Depot where you live even carried Crotons and Adeniums. By the way, your login info says you are from 6B Massachusetts, your post says you are in Maine. Which is it?...See MoreOh my! oh my! I have a pair of Blues house hunting!!!!
Comments (6)Thanks Lisa!! First thing I did this morning when I got up was to go to the window to see if they were at the box and they were! They were there for about an hour and a half when I had to take dd to school. They weren't there when I got back but showed back up again around 9:30, now I haven't seen them since. They had both been going in the box, once I saw them both go in the box together too which I figured was a good sign. I am not freaking out yet that they went somewhere else, well yes I am but I am not admitting it. LOL! I recall last year when we got a pair of Blues in mid June that they took forever to get settled. Last year I saw them on a Monday and then the female was MIA for the next five days however the male stayed around singing his heart out. Then the female showed back up and two days later started building a nest. So I am hoping they have chosen this box and right now are just relaxing a bit until they are ready to get down to business again. DOnna...See MoreOutsidePlaying
