Bathrooms Design Dilemma

Color help - small bathroom

We are gutting out main bath, which is super small -5'x8'. We are using white for the sink, toilet, and tub as per usual. Brushed nickel finishes. This picture is the shower tile where the large tiles will be going vertically and these small squares will be going in the center of where the plumbing is as well as in the niches.
I'm trying to decide if I want to go all white on the vanity or if I should do some sort of a gray with a white sink. And then trying to decide on the floor because I already have the silver streaky tiles in the shower. You did not really want to do tile on the floor and we're trying to probably do some type of vinyl tile (not lvp) or linoleum/sheet vinyl. But I'm not sure what color to pick for that.
The other pictures are a few vanities I've found (white with drawer on the bottom, gray with a white top, and an aged gray wood look with a mostly white top with a specs of gray splashed in) Not trying to be high-end but also don't want garbage.
Last pick is the future light fixture.
Thoughts?

I like the aged gray wood look vanity. In the pic with the store lighting, I think the tiles go with it. Light fixture looks good too. Could you grab some paint samples that try to match the vanity and try them at home in your bathroom.

I’m no pro, but we’ve remodeled a few bathrooms. Obviously, much is down to taste and what you prefer, but here’s what I would do: I’d use the same large-format tile you’re using on the shower walls on the bathroom floor….continuing that will look more cohesive, and you know the colors will match. Your bathroom is small, and to find the right gray would be difficult, so stick with a white cabinet and countertop. (This will also avoid “gray overload”.) If you don’t want a white vanity, I’d look for a light wood, perhaps a light birch or similar. Good luck! (The attached photo is just a light wood example.)

You are going to want more than 32" for the toilet. 36" is standard (and perhaps even code in some areas???? Not here in Maine but I heard people saying that on other forums...) We have 34" and it feels fine but I dont think I'd want to go much tighter. You could solve that simply by flipping the closet and shower. So, have your shower -rotated 90 degrees and witha glass end wall- at the end of the tub (which is a nice setup you can see in many bathrooms, the tub deck can actually protrude under the shower glass wall and be a ledge or seat in the shower). Then the passageway moves to the left, and you can steal a bit of space from the other closet for the toilet. Either that of have a shorter vanity. 48" isn't a size I'd fight for. It's too short for a double vanity, really (unless you're using one of the new two-faucet 'trough" styles) so why not go down to 42" and have a better toilet area? For resale, though, you should consider a double vanity. Some people I guess expert truly huge ones, like at least 5+' long. But you CAN get smaller ones, Ikea has some great ones for tight spaces. But if you're not selling anytime soon, do what YOU like!! (But I still think you'll want more toilet space...)

A bathroom exhaust fan should produce 4 air exchanges per hour. Your bathroom is 7 x 7 which is 49sq.ft Assuming an 8' ceiling the total volume would be 49 x 8 = 392cu.ft We want four complete air exchanges per hour so that would be 392cu.ft x 4 = 1568cu.ft per hour. There are 60 minutes in an hour so we divide 1568 by 60min and it equals 26.13cfm. You currently have a 50cfm fan, which is twice the size you really require yet your having problems with the mirror fogging up. I suspect your problem is not the fan. Nature abhors a vacuum therefore a fan cannot push air out of a room unless there is provision for an equal amount of air to enter the room. You can test the theory by running the shower and leaving the bathroom door slightly ajar to allow more air to enter the room. Generally they make a slightly higer gap under the bottom of a bathroom door to allow more space for makeup air to enter the room but in some circumstances that does not provide enough makeup air. The solution then is to install a duct through the wall to an adjacent room and put a grille on either side. That will allow the additional air.

Certainly ask the kids for suggestions, but in the meantime, I would concentrate your search on warmer colors that will compliment the warm sand color of the tile. I have a feeling something in the same family as the former yellowish cream color will probably be your best bet, although I could see a warmer green (with more yellow than blue) working in there. If you don't mind a dark color in a small space, a warm chocolate brown or a deep plum could look nice as well, although I have a feeling it might be overwhelming given that there are no windows.

I think we're going to have to have an electrician come in and rewire the house or something. The bathroom, the two fan lights in the kitchen, and the lights in the main room in the basement go out all the time. Doesn't matter what kind of bulbs we put in there, they burn out. Yet the light over the sink is on pretty much 24/7 and it's been replaced like once in 16 years. For the last long while, we quit buying the "good" bulbs b/c if we get three months out of them, that's a good length of time for us, but the cost is outlandish to replace that often for bulbs that rarely are used. The cabinet door goes to shelving in the hall. If we didn't have the shelving, we'd lose quite a bit of storage, so we can't take the shelves out to put a hamper in there.

@ emily9972 We are gutting the bathroom so nothing in it currently will be there once we do all this work so I don't think a paint sample would help, unfortunately. I like that aged wood one, but I'm torn. If we did do that one, not sure on the flooring especially as it should probably be light and we definitely won't do white with kids and cats :)

I agree with coray about the vanity. The white or gray vanity will make the bathroom look so cold and gray. Add some warm wood to it to counter it a bit. Also what ever tile you pick for the shower, have it go on the floor too, or a bigger version of it. I wouldn't have two different flooring types between the shower and floor in such a small space.

Also, the reason I wouldn't go with the white or gray vanity is because it makes me think of this post I read Maria Killam Gray

Yes gray overload is a concern, I do plan to have some sort of blue or blue-green for walls, haven't dove into the rabbit hole of paint colors yet :)

For the flooring, that makes sense. Since we are laying them vertically in the tub/shower, I wonder if we should run them on the floor where the skinny end touches the tub or the long end. The tiles are 12x24. I'm thinking the skinny end to the shower may help the room look a little wider. The room is basically a vanity on the left in front of the door, then toilet on its right, then the bathtub to the right of that, so very little floor space.
