Difference in price between peonies
Comments (4)Hello Emmett, We had most of our peonies destroyed or uprooted last year just after planting them. A car drove off the road and all over them, and we had so much to deal with then that details on the peonies, whatever was left of them that did grow, aren't totally firm in my mind, though I do recall my husband finding some blooms, one of which he brought into the house. But anyway, the memory of what the bulbs looked like when we received them is clear: they looked great! That was a bit of a surprise, as they were amazingly cheaper than anywhere else I could find. I just placed another order yesterday at the same place for peonies and some other bulbs. The order this year is coming about six weeks farther into the season, so the quality might be less than what they sent last year. I don't know what we'll get this year, but at their prices, the peonies would still be a bargain even if not quite as nice as last year's (spectacularly large and healthy) bulbs. The numbers of different peony varieties are certainly limited at this inexpensive place, but since I don't have as many of the varieties they do carry as I'd like to have, this doesn't matter to me at this point. The place is Terra Ceia Farms. Best wishes, Mary Here is a link that might be useful: Terra Ceia Farms...See MorePrice difference between GC yourself or paying someone else
Comments (34)My DH is in the construction business and we considered OB because we knew contacts for more than 80% of the project. However, we went with a GC for many reasons the most important being that DH is a busy man and couldn't be onsite all the time. As it turned out, the GC's experience was invaluable. Our home was custom designed for us and thus many unexpected structural questions came up which someone not building residential homes everyday would not be able to handle. Knowing subs and knowing the inside and out of house construction are two different things. OB houses usually take much longer and as logicalone says, that costs money in interest. Our GC used some of our subs and some of his. His subs had no problems with schedule and quality of work because they have worked with him numerous times and know what he expects. If they don't perform, he doesn't use them again. It's a real headache if you hire a sub who does inferior work. If you're not in the "know" about subs, what will be your basis for hiring them? Lowest or highest bid doesn't ensure quality work. You might want to look at the recent post about a lien being placed on a GW member's home. That is another area which you need to be fully educated in before you try to OB....See MoreHelp! defference between sticker/purchase price of new home
Comments (2)I think it depends on the area it's in, and how well taken care of the park is (if it's in a park), and how much in demand places there are, and definitely how old it is because even in good shape mobiles don't appreciate in value like houses do, so it's important to keep that in mind....See MoreOutdated Custom Cabinets Kitchen or Updated Modular Kitchen?
Comments (20)The wood will wear better than paint. For now, and for a future rental. There are several things to change about the space, but the cabinets aren’t one of them. Not everything is a nail that needs only a hammer as a solution. There are other tools in the toolbox. Every home and client requires an individual response. It’s not the same solution every time. Which is why wood is surging strongly as a decorative choice. People inevitably became bored with the one note One True Kitchen, that thou shall have no other kitchens before it. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2698630/what-is-the-one-true-kitchen-i-want-photo-examples-please Quoting Marcolo from that thread, who is solely missed. The whole thread deserves to be enshrined, but this should be embroidered as the forum banner. And the One True Kitchen spoke to her, making her heart sing: I. I am the One True Kitchen, who brought thee out of the land of cheap builder's grade oak and shiny brass. Thou shalt not install any strange kitchens before Me; nor paint thy walls a non-neutral color; nor make for thyself any likeness of the Sopranos' kitchen, or early '90s Tuscan. Nor shalt thou apply any graven appliques upon thy Shaker cabinets. Thou shalt not prefer other kitchen styles, for I, the One True Kitchen, am a jealous Kitchen, visiting iniquity on them that hate Me. II. Thou shalt not take any countertop unless it came with veins. III. Remember the annual Crown Point holiday sale; eleven months shalt thou pay full retail; but on the twelfth month thou shalt negotiate, when it shall be surprisingly affordable. IV. Honor thy subway tile and thy farmhouse sink, that thou shall not tire of thy kitchen for many days. V. Thou shalt not spill, especially wine or lemon juice unless thou buyest soapstone. VI. Thou shalt not commit to any slab unless thou hast tested it first with ketchup. VII. Thou shalt steal everything from Christopher Peacock's website that isn't tied down and copy it exactly. VIII. Thou shalt not bear to go without a false door unless it is up against a neighboring cabinet. IX. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's colorful countertop; or her colorful backsplash; or her colorful paint; or her stained cabinets; or her dreadful four-inch strip of granite before the tile starts, what was she thinking. X. Thou shalt not covet anything that is thy neighbor's, for it is not timeless and classic and she has no taste....See MoreKendrah
