I had my guest bathroom tiles and tub reglazed and tub a couple years back. I no longer live in the house so I can’t tell you how they hold up to cleaners, etc. I did it because they were this disgusting blue with this grime on it that I seriously could not clean for the life of me. Same with the grout. It actually made the bathroom look pretty creepy according to a friend of mine.

Reglazing tile is not a bad option to achieve a really nice look at a low cost. But I do see it as a short term option.

I did have mine professionally done. They came in and taped everything off and did a spray that had a pretty strong smell to it. Be prepared for that.
I was hoping there would be non-spray options. Such as prepping with an acid wash then rolling on the glaze. But I could not find anyone who would do that. I was concerned the spray would be rough and bumpy. It actually came out pretty smooth. Cost me $1k, brightened up the bathroom. But still not the same as changing out the tile itself.
I will try to dig out before and after photos and post.

There is nothing wrong with the bathroom tiles. Having a floor tile a different shade than a wall tile is normal. It is even recommended for bathrooms where elders live. Even younger people with vision issues or who might drink alcohol excessively on occasion can benefit from having the floor tiles a different shade than the wall tiles. It helps keep one oriented that the lighter color is ”down. ”

I agree with morz8 that a wall color change would be better. If you like dramatic, navy or any medium to dark blue looks good with this color tile.

Painting the wall tiles white will make your tub look dingy in comparison.

Maybe one wall in a patterned wallpaper with the gray and beige…will make the colors …as is …seem more intended…(rather than a mistake) …painting the tiles is fine as an experiment ….as long as you know it could quickly turn into a complete redo ..if it fails

If you go with the spray paint…keeping the coat very thin…any small scratches could probably be covered with a little more spray when needed…🤷🏼‍♀️

If you do reglaze, I highly recommend getting a professional. And you should probably do the bathtub at the same time. I’m having trouble finding photos of my bathroom, but will post when I do. It is true that you cannot use. Hardy braces to clean after the reglazing. You also need to wipe down any water which might leave with hard water stains. It is kind of a pain. Probably best to do if you think you’re going to sell the house.

I wouldn't paint tiles because the finish is not going to be as good as the ceramic finish.

The problem is the paint color as it is completely wrong with both the tiles and the floor.

Repaint with something that works with the warm tones. Also replace the shower curtain with something pretty - patterned in warm tones. The reality is that you keep the shower curtain closed rather than open so that hides the tiles for the most part.

I don't have a bath mat but if you don't mind them, get one in a striking pattern that works with the shower curtain and picks up the other warm tones of the tile in the tub and the floor.

I painted the tiles on my bathroom floor several years ago. They still look great and I am very happy with them. IMO the wall tiles might be a bit trickier because they will come in contact with water. It could be that you try it and it turns out to be a great fix but peeling paint is not a good look.

Like you, I also have the problem of the tile and the tub being two different colors. I handled it by painting the outside of the tub to match the rest of the decor of the space. That way there was no longer a blob of white when everything else in the room was a different color. In your case, you could paint the outside of the tub blue to match your walls. If you do not want to paint the tub itself, you could create a barrier that runs along the outside of the tub and paint that instead.

I said I would upload photos and am now just getting around to it. Again, I had this done professionally and I did both tiles and tub. This was not done with regular paint and it made the trim around it look even more yellow, but overall it was a much better look.
