Need help deciding where to locate a toilet

Trying to figure out how to change a floor into an open space (kitchen/dining/living) but also have a small toilet/sink.

I attached a few ideas and would love some feedback. The grey area is stairs coming up to this floor.

Hi Josh ! What about making your shower a bit smaller? That might give you space to open the door and place the toilet and sink mire comfortably?

I bet if you add pictures of your yard, in the approx area you want to plant you will get tons of replies. Or a detailed description of the area size where they are desired to be. Other than that it's hard to know where to begin to help you.

Looking at the shade of blue you've chosen, I would paint the stairway beige. (The blue might make it seem like a cave, and you certainly don't want use the brown, great color, but too dark for an entire stairway...) Is the ceiling in the kitchen freshly painted? I think the soffit would look okay painted to match the ceiling. If you want the seamless look, certainly paint it brown to match the walls. I tend to go with that opinion when I am asked for work. (I have my own small business.) Also, it's a bit easier! Looks like you have decent cabinets! Seems like a cute house!

Hi annz, Thanks for your tips. The outside, recessed entry area is around 6 wide feet by 4 feet deep. The inside entry is a few feet larger. I agree that coach lights that stick out might be a problem in terms of blocking the view. Everyone, Thanks for your quick input. The electricians have been and gone, so hopefully we made the right decisions. We are roughed in for two exterior lights near the front door (two adjacent walls). Now my search will be for flat sconce style outdoor lights. Hopefully we can find that, as I agree with those who cautioned against not having bulky coach lights that stick out too far from the wall. I bought Perfumed Breeze this spring. The repeat seems ok (but not quite great). I’m not sure it would be so suited to an arch it seems to want to ramble everywhere. But it’s only my 1st year, so maybe others will have better input. I bet America would do very well in Texas. All of Fragrant Cloud’s children have been outstanding repeat bloomers (not only the repeat, but retaining high quality blooms in the dead of summer) for me, and America is reputed to be one of the best. There is also Pearly Gates a pastel sport of America. Abe might do very well in your application, but I know you already have a very nice one.

Your current floor plan is a much better option than what you are thinking, and no to a bathroom of any type off the kitchen and living areas. I would forget about that open concept.

Having a bathroom near a kitchen may seem like a bad idea, but it’s clear that with proper design and planning, having both of these spaces near each other can be highly practical and cost-efficient. Good zoning and lay-out planning will lead to different spaces that complement each other.

I'm not sure what's going on as neither proposals have the same footprint and at the same time do not match the bones of the existing floor plan.

But if you have a Powder Room, when you have opportunity to do so it is best to hide the door away from open areas - so tuck it in a "vestibule" or combine it with a "backhouse" area (pantry, circulation, etc).

You are correct, the previous owner enclosed the balcony (call TV room in the current plan) making it illegal so we are working with a floor plan that will go back to 66m2 area.

Moving a toilet can be expensive if you have to install a new toilet vent stack, if that is even possible depending on what is above or below you.

The last floor plan isnt any better. What you have now, is still much better, and thats a terrible place for a bathroom.
