Please help with colors for this living room and dining room
Comments (5)Agree with Annie about not letting labels dictate how you use your rooms/house. Our current house has a living room, dining room, family room and one more large living space. We use the living room in the front as the TV room, the central open family room is more formal, the dining room as labeled, and the extra living space is the kids playroom with another TV and their desks/computers/storage. There used to be just a hallway opening between the playroom and the central family room. I had a contractor add a door, so that we don't have to worry about keeping it perfectly neat and it is nice being able to close the door when there are several kids playing a noisy game. I love not having the main TV in the central open family room. Much nicer being in the kitchen without having to put up with sports shows....See MoreHow to create a cohesive look - dining & living room?
Comments (49)The plates look super! (And don't worry about "us" being upset! You are following your heart, and only you know your daughter ... we certainly don't!) :-) I love that Kaufmann fabric that Rita shared. That's along the lines of what I was envisioning early on for this space. Fun, fresh, young, a bit bohemian - I think that would really rock!...See MorePlease help me create cohesiveness that runs throughout my home
Comments (24)Do you like the red ceiling? Are you able to paint? As others have said, colour is often the unifying thread in a home. Perhaps you want to consider an on-site colour consultation. Our local BM stores offer this for an affordable amount and this way, you get recommendations based on your light and space. Screens aren't that reliable in rendering true colours. It's also difficult for most of us to get an idea of the space flow in your home through pictures. Looking at your pictures though, I agree that your dining room rug does not jibe style-wise with your dining furniture. Not a fan of the black island. It looks "heavy" to me. (Again, this is my impression based on a picture. Not as reliable as YOUR sense of it, in the actual space.) In the sitting area, off the kitchen, I'd be tempted to go with a round coffee table rather than the glass rectangular one. You have a lovely house with lovely furnishings. I'm sure, with a few tweaks, you'll make it "home" soon enough. Good luck and keep us posted!...See MorePlease HELP! Want to make a cohesive and comfortable space!
Comments (10)I need a to scale floor plan and to be honest I never like a FR and a LR open to each other so I need a floor plan.IMO shelving works only if you have really nice stuff to display and fanmily photos are best usually in more private spaces like a nice disply down the hallway to the bedrooms for instance. Are there 2 FPs ? I need the floor plan since right now there is nothing sleek or contemporary that I see. A clean slate is what you need to show The LRs you have in your idea books are so far from what you have I need to see that space empty and you need to see if those posts are load bearing and what is the flooring ?You need a lot more lighting and all LEDs 4000k if you hope to get that clean , light contemporary look at all....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
