I only have two on your list, Sunny; Kiss Me Kate and Plum Perfect. In my Arizona climate, KMK throws thick, stiff canes straight for the sky, 8 to 10 feet tall. There is no way to do much training or bending of any kind. They aren’t flexible even when the canes are young and fresh. They snap off with very little pressure, so a gentle fanning of the canes is all I can accomplish on mine. She is very vigorous, breaking new basal canes all during the growing season. Her spring flush is delectable, big fat cup cupcake booms with a fragrance that I love. Unfortunately, I don’t get very much rebloom, but this will be my 4th summer with her and I keep hoping for improvement in that area. I pruned her back pretty hard this spring and am hoping that kickstarts her blooming into overdrive. Plum Perfect is only starting her second year in my garden and the first summer in the ground as I kept her in a pot the first season. She has been maintenance free and beautiful and I have no complaints except for her lack of fragrance, but I don’t think PP ever has much fragrance and in my arid climate, not much can be expected.

I was considering "Jasmina", but at the website of Kordes it's written, that its height is 300 cm (118 inches), while the height of "Laguna" is 250 cm (98 inches) according to them. "Aloha" is also larger than "Laguna" according to Kordes ("Aloha" is 300 cm or 118 inches). Besides, I'm afraid, that "Aloha" will not keep its colour in a sunny place. My "Teasing Georgia", which was yellow at my previous shady balcony, is now almost white at my new sunny balcony. By the way, all the mentioned Kordes roses ("Jasmina", "Aloha" and "Laguna") belong to "Climbing Max" collection, which means that they are very large. "Falstaff" is a very beautiful rose and is available in our nurseries, but it's not very healthy (disease resistance is rated as "average" at the David Austin's website), the fragrance strength is "medium" and the branches can be easily broken in windy weather. We have lots of rain and even "Teasing Georgia" with its excellent health gets powdery mildew here. All my knowledge is theoretical. I can compare the roses mostly using the information from the websites of their breeders. My choice is based mostly on this information. Therefore, thank you, all, for your posts with your personal experience. I'm looking for an exceptionally healthy climber (in zone 8a), with strong scent, which will keep its colour in a sunny place (in zone 8a) and will be able to grow in a 31.7 gallon (120 litres) flowerpot.

Diane, That RCT is to die for...I killed 2 last yr, picked them up from the clearance rack and they promptly kept dying, i'm tempted to try again...does it have any scent at all? For a planter, even a large one, not sure if some of the ones mentioned above would be a good choice...MAC for instance, some pictures I have seen indicate it gets crazy big. Something like brother cadfael, spirit of freedom, lady of shallot etc? not sure of the hardiness etc. Full disclosure, I have have many climbers in planters coz I have a large patio and less space in the ground, but mine are relatively young, so not sure how they will do long term.

I was complaining about how bad this rose looks up close when thrips are around. I do not remember if that is something you have to battle in your garden. Madame A open slowly and the blooms last a long time so the thrips have a lot of bud time to destroy destroy. If you can't see my picture in HMF.
