The old color was really gold. Probably just didn't show well in those pics. It was the original paint from the house being built in 2002. We ended up choosing SW Urban Putty for the room and LOVE it. We used Shitake in our kitchen and hearth room first and could tell it was too cool of a color to use in our living room with the warmer toned rugs.

Squint your eyes and look at it. What color appears to dominate then? That might be the direction to go with wall paint or rug colors. Your off white wall paint may be too warm for the white in this chair. We need to see all the furniture to be very helpful with choosing a rug. Are more of your pieces patterned? Is this one of the two accent chairs?

You have a neutral color rug, so any color would work. Just your preferences of style.
