Help furnish/finish the breakfast nook
Comments (17)Your proposed wood table reminds me of Bristish West Indies style such as Ethan Allen's British Classic collection. If you look at their peices, you will see that some accent pieces have rattan. It really makes the furniture lend itself to both a formal look with the dark toned wood, yet some casual feeling with the rattan. Pricey, but you can find cheaper furniture in this same style (except for the bombay chest which is way overpriced and nothing similiar / cheaper exists! Errrrr). But then again, your photshopped sconces and chairs have a modern style (to me) and your fabric on the bench also is more modern. Maybe the darker table shown by Francoise47 would work better. I love your kitchen which has a farmhouse, cottagey feel and if it were mine, I'd stick to this style for most elements. I'd also put a small chandelier over the table instead of wall mounted sconces....See MoreLight Fixture for Kitchen Table in Breakfast Nook
Comments (25)Hi Newbie! I've wondered what happened to you! Haven't seen you over in Kitchens for a long time! First, congrats on expecting a baby! Exciting! You're on the right path trying to tie up all these loose ends before May. Have you thought about posting over in Kitchens also? So many there have heavily researched lights that someone may have seen the perfect fixture for you. Plus, I know everyone would like to see your progress. :) When I saw that first WE fixture, I thought of a Barbara Cosgrove pendant I like. It echoes the shape. I'll link it below. You might look around for other lights on that site, too. Some of them get into the $$$ range though. I don't care for the mod WE glass cluster you just posted. How far apart would the peninsula and banquette fixtures be? I'm thinking that you might want to scrap the peninsula pendant... Comments (2)I don't have a picture, but my inspiration is the banquette on Divine Design...Moms and tots kitchen. It was tucked into a corner with windows on both sides and had a pedestal table and two chairs. Storage is usually easy to build into a banquette. Either have seats that lift up or openings underneath where you can slide in baskets :)...See MoreHelp Picking Breakfast Nook Upholstery: 3 Options
Comments (48)>> Are you thinking I should go with a solid and tuft it? No. I think a beautiful striped or vivid pattern would work great in your kitchen on the back. Vivid patterns also help hide stains. However, if you pick a striped pattern and then you diamond tuft it, the direction of the stripes will be all cattywampus. I saw a Houzz picture like that. It just didn't look right. One thing to consider for the bottom part of your banquette especially: very smooth wood with a stain to match your counters It's especially important with your banquette geometry to have a very very smooth seating surface for ease of entry and exit without creating a ton of static sparks from fabric or stress on knees. Smooth wood finish would look like this: https://www.houzz.com/photos/country-meets-city-traditional-kitchen-toronto-phvw-vp~70536-meets-city-traditional-kitchen-toronto I put this banquette in our kitchen 15 years ago. Everyone still loves it. People enter the house and gravitate towards sitting there. The mistake I made was with the measurements - I specified seat depth without making it clear that the seat back depth did NOT overlap this seat depth. Therefore, the seat is ~ 2" not deep enough for taller adults because of the back cushion overlap.
