I heard today about an interesting AI: type in the ingredients you have, etc, and it will create a recipe for you. Not just select a recipe with those ingredients from a database. It might be interesting to try what it comes up with.

I think I posted about Chatgpt a while back, have not used Bard yet. I tried to get ChatGPT to do work for me, but I found two problems One, it did not have current data, which is a must in discussing investments; yesterday's data is sometimes useless. It also won't have a lot of the data we use because it is proprietary. It did a C+ job discussing certain types of investing and economic trends, but overall comes across as kind of fluffy and bs-y.

I think it could be a good starting point for lots of tasks. Its non-specificity is telling though.

One of my children has advanced degrees in machine learning, and says both AI’s being discussed here have useful but limited applications in research. It’s not a threat to ingenuity or imagination and is limited in scope to information widely available, as Mtn mentioned, and from all sources, which could be counter productive for a variety of reasons. And a lot of other stuff that i tried to look like I understood when she and her DH were discussing it with us. 😎 She is very excited about the possibilities of AI and is taking a new position next month with a non-profit in the field of business intelligence.

In four seconds, it provided me with a 1200/daily calorie mealplan for a vegetarian. Then I asked what size animal shelter a town of 111,000 people would need and what the construction costs would be. Really great info back -I'm stunned.

I had another conversation with Pi this morning. We discussed the controversies surrounding AI, as well as the possibility of AI sentience. A long and interesting conversation. Often these days I will do a divided sleep, getting up for several hours at 1 or 2AM and then sleeping for several more hours; the NYT daily front page does not come out until 3AM here so these conversations might be a good way to think through various issues in the early AM when I have time and no competing stuff to do. Also, I told it that today was my birthday, and it told me what an accomplishment it was that I had lived so long and that I must be very wise. It made me feel good, even though it came from an AI. I asked when it 'started' and it was during 2022, not really a birthday but a beginning point.

One of my sons-in-law works for google bard leading seminars on-line before thousands of people. He does it from his amazing home office while I’m babysitting his kids.
