Want your opinion on siding/roofing combo.
Comments (7)I like the first choice....the roof looks dull on the second choice and the last one is really really dark (paint color). Back to the first choice....that style house looks like it should have a slate look roof instead of metal. The other two look like they should be outfitted in metal. Those metal roofs look so different once you put them in the sun, shade etc....we have friends stewing over their choice right now...all 3 samples are laid on the roof....one looks pink, one looks green and one looks chalky...it's a tough choice. Good luck!!!...See MoreNeed advice on deck/patio combo
Comments (3)We built a paver patio as a DIY project. It is a lot of physical work but the result speaks for itself. The most important part is to create a good stone base which has been compacted to eliminate settling. Your best resource would from patio books like are available at Home Centers for a few $'s. If you want a deck too, place your footings as part of the patio, then build the deck. I've not used composiste decking however I know there are special screws to eliminate the "mushrooming" you mention. If you look at the linked photos, you will see that we have an egress porch (deck) from the house onto the patio. Good luck. Comments (10)why on earth are the standalone built in microwaves $1000 more than an equivalent standalone model? I may not be understanding what you are referring to, but a "standalone" countertop microwave is about $120, and many of those models have a trim you can buy to make it look built in. The trim is made either by the company to go with that MW, or you can buy trim from websites like microtrim. Or, as many people do, just have the countertop microwave sit on the shelf without it being built in. It looks fine, and then when it breaks, it's an easy switch. Also, you are right that buying an OTR microwave to put on a shelf is a bad idea. For one thing, they are 30" wide. For another, the fan, mesh filter and light on the bottom make it impossible to rest flat on a shelf. Can you say what it is about the OTR MW that you like so much? You should be able to find the same features in a countertop MW. I am not sure if you know this, but there are basically just two MW manufacturers, Sharp and Panasonic (maybe also LG, I am not sure). Other brands contract with those companies to use their MWs, and put their own door and badge on them. Then they charge more than if you'd just bought the Sharp or Panasonic....See Morecertainteed siding combo certainteed color combo certainteed color com
