Barbados cherry in a container

What soil or potting mix should I use for a barbados cherry? How big a container to start, maybe a five gallon? I have no experience with these so any advice would be appreciated.

I can't tell what size pot it's in, but it looks like a 5 gallon. I have figs growing in 10 gallon pots, so I would recommend at least that large. Roots need room to grow. A regular potting mix with 1/4 added perlite would be fine.

FWIW, the one I have in the ground is around 8' tall and as wide. Not sure how long one could stay in a container before becoming rootbound. I do know they're sensitive to root knot nematodes, which makes me think they might have somewhat delicate roots.

Hi gardeners, Looking for some cuttings from Barbados cherry. Looking for either Florida sweet or B-15. I bought some what I thought was a good variety but turned out to be a bonsai with nothing really edible. I want to graft something good onto it. The bones are there, good root system in a container but I would like to eat something. Let me know if you have some to spare. Willing to pay. Thanks

Right now its only about two feet tall and in its original one gallon plastic pot. Are these the types of plants that up potting is harmful or beneficial? If beneficial i have a 5 gallon bucket to start. Would adding some sand to potting mix also be advisible for better drainage?
