Not what do you wear, instead: How do you wear jewelry?
Comments (17)As I matter of fact I do wear jewelry differently at my 2 homes! I can't stand cold metal touching me so I don't wear necklaces in the winter (from Nov to about March) at my regular home. And I wear one particular pair of earring almost all winter because they dangle but not long enough to touch my skin. Some of the longer ones end up touching my neck from my scarves & bulky coat so I avoid those. It's crazy but cold metal just sends a chill right through me and makes me feel colder. Since it's warmer in HHI, I do wear necklaces & earrings and even bracelets. I usually bring a few down with me so that I can have some variety. One necklace at a time, if it's bold than the earrings are smaller. One bracelet at a time and it depends on my sleeve length. In both places, I occasionally wear rings when I remember them. Your comments about gold & blue reminds me that I have an 18k gold ring with a lapis lazuli stone. I should dig that out and start wearing it again....See MoreHow would you clean dry sap off Trex?
Comments (17)The person who said to live with it is exactly correct. We have a 680-sqft composite deck and we purposely built it around a 40-ft Norway pine. We were managing sap removal fairly well until the summer of 2021 when pretty much the entire deck got covered, and I mean covered, in sap. Couldn't find even 1 square foot without sap on it. Never seen anything like it. Even our Hannamint furniture took a beating. So we cut the tree down a few weeks ago. We have tried Goo Gone, soapy water, power washing, composite deck cleaner, scrubbing, rubbing, scraping. With the density of the droplets from 2021 we are ending up smearing the sap so instead of a million little white sap stains, now the sap is essentially pressed into the fine groves in the deck mold...so a broader white spot appears. So, it's either live with the small white spots or live with the remnants of the rubbing. Neither is ideal. We are simply going to give it a washing with the Krud Cutter deck and fencc cleaner to remove the surface stickiness and live with a white spotted deck. That is, until I call to have someone come and rplace 100% of the boards. That's the only way to get a totally sap free deck for us, is to replace it all....See MoreHow would you mount and frame this piece?
Comments (17)If you like the unframed look like Newdawn's but your canvas isn't finished on the edges, you can put it in a float mount frame. They are actually pretty easy to make yourself. You buy corner molding from Home Depot or Lowes and use a miter box to cut the corners. Make the frame about 1/4" too big all around, paint it and mount the canvass in the center so it looks like it is floating in the frame. One flat side of the molding is against the wall and the other flat side is perpendicular to the wall. If the frame is very big or the artwork heavy you can nail the frame to a piece of 1/4 plywood for support. I've done this on large pieces that I couldn't afford to buy a frame for. I tried to find a picture in google, but no luck. I may not have the right name for this technique....See MoreShare your favorite jewelry pieces
Comments (75)Nuts, all those pieces are beautiful! I especially like the combination of pearls and coral. Thanks everyone for sharing these personal faves. This is my favorite, very old fashioned, from a great aunt: its a four strand pearl bracelet with diamond spacers and an ornate Art Deco diamond clasp. It doesn’t photograph very well but all the surfaces are either brilliant or emerald cut diamonds set in white gold. I usually wear it with black velvet and with my pearls by the yard looped many times around my neck....See MoreUser
