A lot of bad info in recent comments... "Speed oven is a type of microwave." No. A speed oven is not at a microwave of any sort. Speed ovens are often combined with a microwave but the speed oven is totally different technology, usually light. Combi Speed/MW have an advantage in being able to use both technologies to produce food that is enjoyable to eat and retains nutritional value. "Microwaves give off radiation, destroys nutrients in food." No. From a purely nutritional standpoint cooking in a microwave is extremely good and preserves nutrients better than most forms of cooking. There are dozens or hundreds of studies on this that you can find online. That said, I don't like the taste and texture of microwaved food. For veggies steaming is nearly equally as good as microwave from a nutritional standpoint but produces more enjoyable food to eat. I also love to roast veggies but roasting does reduce the nutritional value significantly more than steam or MW. ---- From an overall health standpoint, ANY harm from a microwave (and we still don't know if there is or not) is likely far less than that from traditional cooking (induction, gas or electric coil) with a poor range exhaust hood that results in VOC's and Carcinogens spread throughout your house.

Joe, the cast iron grates are scratched/discoloured? I'm a bit confused--I'd wondered about the range top surface being cleanable/durable etc but the grates themselves? I'd think those black cast iron would scratch about as much as a cast iron frying pan= not at all? Tuning into your thread Sid--I've been contemplating Miele range also as we approach a new build, and have been waiting also to hear more feedback on these ranges. Good to hear from Joe that the burners are probably reliable--that is something I wonder about also -- I've had a Miele cooktop for over a dozen years , same with oven, and the one thing that's been finicky is the ignitors on the burners. Not in love with them, but hard to know if others are any better with electronic ignition these days. I do tend to tune in when I hear owners complain about click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click....would love to avoid that completely in the next stove purchase. My partner loves Miele products, so I have a feeling that's what we'll be getting...hoping you'll get some more recent feedback on the ranges. Have you seen the other threads on them? There's a few.

MizLizzie, I got the manual from @aamassther! it is actually on the Miele website. I couldn't find it :/ though. @Linus, I saw that, it was my late night reading right before bed. I am really excited to find those options. I am really liking this machine. Now I have a question about the dryer. It is drying, but takes around 1.5 or 2 hours I think. The temp is like the temp of a baby's bottle. To be honest I don't know how my newer T8003 dryer does with the temp, I am always happy with it. It does seem to take some time to dry things. I was wondering if anyone knows about the temps on the dryer, T1515. The tech who sold these machines to me said he changed the sensors on the fins in the drum, and changed a belt. I wounder if the thermostat or the element isn't working right. OR, Maybe it is supposed to be this cool. @Alex, I am so glad you posted when you did. I got these hoses at a small hardware store that has everything and the owner is very knowlegeble. But both my DH and the sales person were banking the the thread on the miele were metric or something. I said I highly doubted that. I believed and still do, that the connectors to the back of the machine were just too deep to actually seat down onto the male threaded connection. Anyhow, I have a very nice working machine. I have taken a bunch of pictures and will post pictures soon. I have not had the concrete pad poured yet, that will have to wait til later in August.

You can never have enough ovens. We have a 30" oven in addition to a 24" CSO and a 24" SpeedOven (incidentally, this is a wonderful combination). And still, there has been at least one meal, when I had to add a fourth improvised oven by using the gas grill on the deck. I also had to use a portable warming chest, and had to prepare a careful schedule for when to use which appliance. But then, I was cooking multiple courses for a gathering of more than 100 guests. Realistically though, 99% of the time, the combination of those two ovens should be enough. You might just have to do a little bit of planning on the rare occasions that you make huge amounts of food. But if budget is flexible, adding the SpeedOven wouldn't hurt. It's a good oven in its own right, and it can always serve as a great overflow option, when things get really tight. Is it mandatory? No, not at all? Will you enjoy having bought it? Yes, probably. It's a convenient luxury, if you regularly cook a lot.
