What Clothing Do You Not Own?
Comments (24)Heels over three inches. Polyester anything except my black dress, that I love. No Penney loafers or anything close. Gave my slacks to the thrift store. Love my denim jacket. I use it to dress down my dresses. Never wear it with jeans. I have boots of almost every kind from pointy toed with small kitten heels to flat boots that hug my legs. I Even have logger boots. They are handmade, heavy and high enough to wear with my longer jeans that are cute as a button. Of course my hippie boot collection includes a Morrocan pair and my old campus Frye's from the seventies. Lol. I can't wear knee high boots as I'm not tall enough to pull them off. They come up too high on my knees and I don't have a whip or the rest of the outfit that would have to go with them. Bumble, I bet I would win hands down in the boot count. I don't have any classic type clothes. I am a sucker for $100. Johnny Was type silk tops. Wear them over skinny jeans and boots or sandals. My heels must be plain but my sandals have ankle straps. I wear flip flops with arch support as slippers in the summer. Must have arch supports these days. I don't have a trench coat but have a Military style Ralph Lauren knee length jacket. If I need a dressier coat, I borrow Aimee's. I own one button down blouse and it's designed for keeping sun off my arms at the lake. I have tried to like classic button down blouses but they are not me and the buttons always seem to gap at my breast or are too big everywhere else. Also they are confining! I like leggings under dresses in the winter because I'm picky about the kind of socks I wear with boots. I have a pair of capris. No sweat pants. One pair of yoga pants (love them). No suits here either....See MoreLets talk duck
Comments (67)Alexa, my favorite duck so far came out of the smoker, Roger and Sherry came for dinner and they've sampled that, Roger really liked it. Deep fried might be really good! As for "unmentionables", I've confessed to eating everything from testicles to head cheese. (shrug) Some I liked, some I didn't. I tried to get cabrito when we went to Mexico, but couldn't find any. I ate sushi in California, although I liked the deep fried version best, LOL. (Thanks, Diana!) The only time I got a lot of criticism here was once when I posted pictures of the new calves and had the "annual naming of the beef". I did get a couple of hateful emails from a woman who couldn't stand me "talking ugly about food" and a couple of others about being the next thing to a murderer for raising beef and then having it killed. (shrug) I'm a big girl, I can deal with it. I got a lot more nastiness on the tomato forum and from one male poster on Harvest who was always right and got not just nasty, but threatening. It happens. (shrug) I get past it. Annie...See Moredid not care for that dress, did you?
Comments (134)Oh dear. No, it was not a slam to the South. Not at all. It is a common phrase. It was a direct response to Glanda's comment regarding how much the media spent covering this fairytale wedding of a young woman who was once but a mere blip on the radar in the media during her rather cloistered teenage life in the White House, and has been virtually unknown in the public eye in the years since. I should have quoted her so everyone would know. I usually quote when I post so that there is no mix-up like this. Monica got it right. It is a reference to the media circus. And yes, I was drawn in too. A media circus often happens during, or just after a major upheaval of some sort, and provides a distraction for the populace. It is a philosophy that goes way back. Those "in charge" know that by providing some sort of mindless entertainment like bullfights or circuses, the plebians won't engage in intellectual discourse among themselves, and organize a revolt. The literal translation is 'bread and circuses'. You may hear pan y toros in Spanish meaning basically the same thing. I suppose the modern day equivalent in America could be 'Pringles and Jerry Springer' or maybe 'bratwurst and football'. Regarding how people dress in various regions of the country well, people DO dress differently. Nothing wrong with that. I've travelled and found myself feeling very out of place in some cities with my mode of dress. Even here in Wisconsin there is a big difference in what is popular in the rural areas for dressing up, (where most of my relative reside), and what is done in the big city, and even how people dress who live around the Capital. I never meant to imply that Hillary's dress looked like what a circus performer would wear taming zebras, but...........now that image has been put in my mind. Comments (132)Re: vocal fry "See - Christina from Flip or Flop, Tina on Vintage Flip and 99% of the women on House Hunters Reno" You nailed that one, Chijim. Christina may be one of the worse offenders, but then I never watch Vintage Flip. I have to mute the TV when Christina speaks or else I cannot watch that show. I simply change channels when HHR is on and someone has an annoying voice. As for "Pop of color" - I am reminded of a project given to my 2-D design class, in which we had to create a geometric abstract watercolor painting and use only one fully saturated color, but it was not called "pop of color" at the time, although it served that function. The lesson was that only one saturated color should be used at a time, but this rule was lost on Piet Mondrian. My painting started out with both red and blue at pretty much full intensity, but I still felt that the blue receded. The teacher made me dull the blue for that project, but I'm not sure it helped the final result....See Morebbstx
