I played with a few ideas (some suggested by others) to make the room feel more like home: Moving the rug away from the windows a little for "breathing space". Adding simple drapery panels on each side of the windows for softness and height (if landlord allows). Pulling the sofa and side tables forward enough to allow tall items behind the tables (so the floor lamp is close enough to the sofa to read by, and the other corner can have something tall for balance). Hanging art that reflects your interests (which might not be the architecture of Morocco as shown, but I liked the way the arches relate to the rug motifs). Adding chairs facing the windows and a bench under the windows for guest seating. Including some "creature comforts" that make you happy (books? plants? pillows?). Choose specific items to your taste, of course, but perhaps this offers some ideas. For budget, as others have said, some great finds come from thrift shops. If a tall plant is too pricey, you could substitute interesting bare branches picked up in the woods or tall feathery grasses gathered after they have dried in the fall. You will have a great time making your new apartment a warm and comfortable home!

"Fully decorated" will be ruined by a TV over the fireplace. It's not art. Would need to see you room, your furniture, your colors to help.

I think that gallery wall does look good and is a good size, It adds weight to that side of the room with the fantastic fireplace on the other side. You don't like it so replace it with a tapestry or large painting of the same dimensions. The twin Chinoiserie tables would be fine a little closer together under the tapestry/art as a pair of pedestals for matching large dramatic urns. The small trunk and small bookcase don't work in the room. The floral armchairs look good where they are in the second photo with backs to tapestry.

The rug is the wrong orientation in relation to sectional. Rotate the sectional so the chaise is on the fireplace wall. Or pull the sectional back, center it on the fireplace, and rotate the rug to center on the fireplace. And remove the pieces from in front of the fireplace so the rug can be closer to it. Can you separate the sectional into two pieces facing each other, one under the window and one on the wall -- and rotate the rug down the middle between them. That woud be ideal...you could see more of the rug. And get bold artwork for the long wall that will compliment the bold rug.
