Can you tell us more about the brightly colored art piece? For example, is it an original, does it have special meaning to you, was it purchased from a home goods store, do you have other similar art pieces in your home?

I wonder how the art would look if you painted the wall behind it black. It feels like it’s glowing and that may look good in contrast. Or not 🤷🏻‍♀️😆
But since you have some black already in the room it could limit the new items you need.

You're definitely on the right track with your mood board. I think the colors are quite bold against your paint color so it's a little startling. If this were my room and I loved the art, I might rethink the covers on the green chairs. A print with some of the color from the art? Mustard or orange covers? The throw on one of the chairs looks great with the art. I think something more vibrant besides pillows would work well. I like your current rug in your room and with the art.

The resin art is a piece we bought from a local artist. It’s an original!

Olychick - yeah I think we may need to repaint the room to avoid that. It’s currently BM edgecomb grey (greige). Also i can easily recover the chairs. They’re from joybird and they sell new cushions.

The aqua of the pillow on your couch looks good in your room and with the art. Kind of partway between bold and neutral (for chair covers).

Onlychick - I’m worried aqua/teal will class with walnut. How about cobalt blue?

I think that re-covering the chairs and adding a couple/few bright-colored pillows as well as a bright-colored, round tray on top of the ottoman would help make the art seem more cohesive with the room.

I don't think the cobalt is the best color to go with your sofa. If you don't like the aqua (I think it looks fine with the walnut), I'd stick to the mustard shades, or orange/reds.

I do not think this wall art belongs to this room. I better would replace it.

What about working more with black/orange/pink? Pillows should be bright and graphic. Bring in some bold accessories as well.

@Elena S yes, you are on the right track. Others have posted mock ups that show you are. What they've shown me is that to make this work, you need to go all the way down that track with slipcovers or reapholstery. Accessories won't be enough. So what you do at this point depends on how "you" you feel this style is and how confident you feel, and how much you love the art. Slipcovers alow a less expensive reversal and/or a try-it-on period. I especially like the white sofa and cobalt blue chairs with orange throw and blue pattern pillows you chose. Good luck with this bold sophisticated move!

Original or not - I agree with @Celery. Visualization, Rendering images, that artwork should not be front and center in this room. Find another room for it.

I like the room. I would start by adding bright pillows to the sofa and chairs. You may not need to recover them.

I think the sofa is the biggest clash with the art, both color-wise and style-wise. One is natural, subdued, more traditional; the other is bright, vibrant, modern. I like them both; just not together.

Elena, the art is great for this room! I would let the it be the star that it is! Referring to the mockups, as soon as those bright colors are repeated in accessories, the art lost.

The area rug and the furniture style work well with the art. I think Celery's chair color--similar to the throw on your mood board--brings a tasteful balance to the room. Also on your board, the ikat pillow would work well with your modern choices. I would then replace the other pillows with solids in subtle colors that nod to the art without stealing the show. I am of the persuasion that art is art. It's not an accessory.
