DD’a wedding in the Maldives.

Background: First choice was a hotel on property owned by a local friend. Plans did not come together so the friend recommended his friend’s resort, Rihiveli Maldives Resort. This is a 40 year old compound of rustic villa, serviced by locals.. ( Not quite like MTN’s experience)

This was their first wedding. DD organized all the details with the local friend running interference. She ordered and designed all the specifics for events: Welcome reception, Beach Day BBQ, and the wedding.

The resort has a tiny private island that you walk through the water to get to. Up to my waist!

The BBQ was held there and the ceremony for the wedding was on the sandbar..

We took little motor boats. Comical being hosted over the side wearing long dresses!

Dd’s dress was purchased a month before because her original dress came in way large.

She was shopping with DH for his out in Sach’s and ran upstairs and pulled this the rack. She added strands of pearls around the arms and back.

Groom’s outfits were all designed by DD using fabrics his late father had brought home from India. These were made there and luckily it all fit.

Dee, I had the hairstylist do the bun with lots of spray and gel. My hair barely made it through the welcome reception. Not showing you what it turned into.

Mtn, the guest were mostly their international friends. My nepheww was the only relative to come.

When this was first being planned some did consider it, but after reviewing the travel and expense, they bowed out.

At some point, are thinking of a reception for the relatives and friends who could not come.

Thanks Shelly Prairie Joy is a good suggestion. I have prairie dawn, or I should say I thought I did, as it does not look like many of the photo's I have seen...mine seems to be a paler pink and very cupped bloom shape in large clusters. It is very lovely as each cluster looks like a bridal bouquet. The repeat was also quite good. It is a very lovely rose and I like it very much, as soon as I can figure out what it is I would heartily recommend it....lol I like many of R. Erskine's roses very much, I just wish they weren't so hard to get. It was your photo's of Prairie Peace that made me decide I have to get it somehow someday. I am such a sucker for that colour and very much liked the height you were getting out of yours. The link you posted above is the only source I have seen for it but P.Peace is sort of pricey, do they at least ship a decent sized plant?? I really really really shouldn't order any more, I have 30 coming from Pickering and Palantine has expanded their list of Geschwinds and I really want to give them a try. So I have toasted the budget already for this year. sigh, sure wish I had a bigger yard. cathy

There is a new picture frame out. You scan your pictures with computer scanner and then transfer to this thing. It holds bunches of photos, you can hang on wall or sit on a table or entertainment center and when you turn it on it shows photos one after the other. I know I am not being very plain, but cann't think what the heck its really called except "automatic digital picture frame" or something close. You can keep adding photos to it and they can be changed as grandkids come along. Walmart has about 4 different brands in photo section, Staples carries them and I am sure other places do too.

Both my grandparents emigrated from England and both came over in 1914. They only met the next year. The Canadian government were asking for immigrants to work in the textile industry, and in particular they wanted weavers. My grandfather (originally from Wales) worked in the steel industry, and Canada was really expanding in that area. So they both came over to jobs that were waiting for them.

As another wedding photographer, please consider this advice. First a little disclaimer; it would be 10X easier for me to shoot a wedding and hand you a CD of all the images. That would literally save me about 10 hours of work AFTER the wedding day processing images and also money to provide you with the proofing. I could charge you for the dig. negs and the copyright release and be done with it, moving on to the next wedding much faster. Here's why you should consider NOT buying digital negatives. Color Calibrated monitors of the photographer will give you the colors you think you're going to get. This will almost surely NOT happen by taking a CD to WalGreens or Walmart. Archival quality prints from the photographer means they'll last. ...and probably the biggest reason to order prints from the photographer is the post processing involved. This includes, aspect ratios, color-correction, sharpening, saturation, contrast, noise-reduction, dodging & burning, B&W and Sepia conversions and MUCH more. Like I said, I spend about 8-10 hours doing this processing for the average wedding. Unless you want/know how to do this yourself, digital negs may not be as good as it sounds. Few, if any, photographers are going to spend this time processing images to hand over to you on a CD. They are going to give you the untouched, unprocessed digital images. ...in short, they aren't going to look as good as you'd expect. Why would they, they haven't been 'developed' yet in the digital darkroom. The professional digital wedding photographer has skills that extend way beyond the camera into the areas mentioned above. ...just something to consider. My goal with wedding photography is to leave Brides & Grooms with a feeling of satisfaction and amazement! I feel strongly that a good portion of the "art" of digital photography is finished in the post processing. A photographer selling you unprocessed digital negs is selling you an unfinished product, in my opinion. Now, if you happen to be a whiz on the computer and are capable of and have the time to process your own digital wedding negs, then go for it! By the way, if you are a bride /groom who has purchased digital negs from your photographer and have realized that the prints don't look like you expected... I offer to process those images for you (as long as you own the copyright) for a minimal fee. Get in touch! daniel@dgmphotography.net -daniel

( I am going to have to go to the thesuarus to look up other ways to say gorgeous, because a lot of ways are needed when looking at these photos.)
