Paint choice dilemma...Please Help!
Comments (11)I think that with such grand ceilings, and white tile, darker paint will enhance the lightness of the floor, and the house risks feeling not grounded enough. Which on the other hand can be interesting..if it is intentional. For example, I decided on medium-dark floor in my current home with very high ceilings, because I wanted to ground it, didn't want the feeling of a ballroom. But I could go with light flooring and it would still be fine, it would just give a totally different mood. There are designers and color specialists that do color consultations, sometimes even on internet. Maria Killiam's blog comes to mind. Laurel Bern's blog comes to mind. I'm sure there are many more. It's not exactly cheap, but it is just that-color consultation only. Also, I don't know about the paint stores, but couple designers I met in other stores were nothing short of amazing-able to help so much without even seeing the space. They drew the space as I tried to explain, and their renderings were better than anything I could ever draw, even though I knew the house, and they heard about it for the first time in their life.. It doesn't happen often I must say, but when it does-oh wow. You're in luck. So yes, definitely check with your local paint store..you might just meet somebody brilliant there, whose input will be priceless....See MoreLaundry/mudroom dilemma. Please help!
Comments (11)Re: the holes in clothing created by......? I've never seen such a collection of weird & wonderfully inventive stories! My new theory is that people are being paid to create these bizarre theories to protect the greedy stores who've created the problem. That's quite a fairytale the "bug guy" told you about carpet beetles. And to add insult to injury he CHARGED you for the story (you paid for fumigation)!? Wow - he must of laughed all the way to bank!!! Those would be pretty highly organized beetles - chewing holes only in cheap clothing purchased off of sale racks (mainly) from Walmart & SuperStore (in Canada) in my case!!! And in the same places (stomach area for women's clothing & usually the back waist area for men's). Maybe we should employ these beetles to do brain surgery also? And NO - I don't wear a belt. And NO I don't have granite counters. And NO it doesn't happen to any of my EXPENSIVE CLOTHING - EVER! And NO to every other crazy theory out there about washers/dryers/seatbelts and even miniature MARTIANS nibbling of belly skin cells that cling to inside of sale T-shirts once and for all!!! Hasn't anyone figured out how stupid all of these excuses are yet? It's simple: the stores want to get rid of the clothing: 1) price it dirt cheap 2) roll the sale rack into the back room and spray the items with a strong solution of an acid that is ONLY activated by washing, so after the first 6 to 12 washings the holes start to develop 3) make sure the area sprayed is in full view when worn so the garment can't be worn for long (no holes under arms, on sleeves, back necklines ever - but I'm sure there will now that it's been mentioned) This way they SQUEEZE the last nickel from the garment and make YOU HAVE to BUY more SOONER rather than later. If they didn't do this then they'd probably send the left overs off to a buyer of cheap, cheap clothing and receive even less $. Come on people - the world is run by the almighty dollar....See Morebacksplash dilemma!! please help
Comments (56)Sorry, I realized my comment never even posted! So weird. Thank you so much for the recommendations and for your long response, Beth!! Those are GORGEOUS and I can’t believe the difference the trim made on those peninsulas. Thankfully my dad is a carpenter and can do just about anything so I’m sure once I show him the photos he will have it done easily!! :) just needed some ideas and inspiration. I love all of the options.... but I might like the idea of leaving it just plain (with no shiplap or board and batten I mean) but I also love the idea of the tongue groove. They’re all so beautiful. I have no idea what a “toe kick” is though! That’s new to me :)...See MorePAINT DILEMMA!! Please help.
Comments (22)Adalisa,Sorry my pics are not the greatest(my phone is 3 years old lol) My ceilings and trim will be BM Simply White. Still think Gray Mist? I saw that BM suggests Fog Mist with Simply White. But the two are so similar so I don't think I can go wrong ? My houses faces West, you don't think the sun will wash out the colors too much? Next to kitchen cabinets - Fog mist on top, Gray Mist on bottom. Next to counters Fog Mist is on left- under my red nail and Gray mist is on right...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
