Hello! So I just brought a house and looking to do remodeling to the kitchen I wanted to change countertops the color of it I don't like but every store that I went to advise me not to since it was in good condition. So thinking about changing color of cabinets to make kitchen to look better and more alive . I want my kitchen to look some what luxury so need some idea. So wish to have big pantry I'm debating if should break down a wall and combine the rooms to make a pantry or just leave the room how it is make it useful for a man cave. Help me please to bring my kitchen looking how I want give me idea

Figuring out your renos and their priorities to you after living in the house for 5 years is certainly doable. It all starts with answering: What's working for you and what's not? This is much easier to do after living in a house 5 years than 5 weeks. :) The other element that factors in these decisions: how long are you planning on living in this house? You might renovate your forever home differently than one you'll be selling in 5 years, for example. Pondering all this will help you answer: "is this a gut reno?" Totally agree with @Connecticut Yankeeeee: congrats on saving up that money and make sure you get your bang for your buck. It can be easy to get caught up in HGTV fever yet few renos are easy breezy and everyone is allowed to have other priorities in life besides having the best house on the block. Kwim? If you've saved this amount specifically for house renos, knowing the actual reno costs in your market will help you prioritize. Currently, with the pandemic, building material costs have more than tripled and contractors are scarce in most areas. Skilled labour isn't cheap either. You mention painting. That's often a DIY-friendly task. If you can do your painting well with good quality paint, that will save you a fair amount. Knowing your real estate market will also help you discern what's an actual reno investment in your house and what's simply eye candy that won't give you any return on investment. A real estate agent could also help figure out what would add value to your house. (To be clear, nothing wrong with spending on eye candy in a house if the house's integrity isn't compromised.) You mention your neighbour's flip. I've seen plenty of flips on here that devalue a house. For example, cohesive flooring throughout a house is a laudable goal but replacing hardwood with vinyl does not add value. Compromising on quality materials for the bones of a house is rarely a good idea.

Leave it as is for 6 months to a year and then decide what you want to do. You may spend the money on new tops and then realize later that you hate the layout and it has to go, now you are out the money for the new tops or handcuffed in that now you cannot afford the budget to redo the cabinet layout.

Live there 6 months. Then take 2K of that budget and pay for a designer to plan to spend the 18K. It won’t go very far at all. New floors and counters about covers it, with DIY painting walls. But those cabinets need to go, and that is a MUCH bigger and much more expensive project than 20K. Add another 50K to that.

Oh wow I'm sorry for misunderstanding I didn't mean to say 20k I meant to say like 80k or like said even. More depends what I need to do to make this kitchen come to life I'm not gonna wait 6months since we already purchasing stuff to fix this house like flooring and pain new light and cabinet and like I said I want big pantry I'm new to all this I just don't know exactly how much it will cost me but willing to pay what ever just need someone give me visual how to do it

Microwave with a vent is pretty much useless. Vented hood with make up air s definitely the way to go. So makes you wonder what else he has no idea on.

The advice above to wait 6 months is good, but it sounds like that doesn't work for you. Here's my personal synthesis of Houzzer design standards.
- Cabinets to the ceiling (unless your ceilings are more than 9' high).
- Vented hood! Not microwave hood.
- Lower cabinets should be all, or mostly all, drawers. You will not believe how much better this makes your kitchen function.
- Simple tile backsplash, OR a 2" to 6" backsplash in the same material as the countertop. But never both.
- Counterdepth fridge.
- Things that add an extra sense of luxury would be a built-in fridge, paneled dishwasher, built-in or drawer microwave, and wall ovens and cooktop instead of a range.
- Current cabinet trends are painted cabinets or wood in natural finishes.
- Current countertops--quartzite is the top "luxury" countertop. Light quartz tops are popular, soapstone is beautiful and super practical, marble is its own whole topic that you can search on here, Corian is great but probably not the right move for someone seeking "luxury" look.
For your particular house, I think a large pantry in that adjacent room might make a lot of sense. That's a really weird room, and the back windowless half seems narrow, dark, and difficult to use for comfortable living space. Converting some of that to a walk-in pantry makes sense. Plus, eliminating your corner pantry in the kitchen lets you extend back wall and island for better work space.

Post a drawing of the whole kitchen, including the space in front of the island, and that adjoining room. Include all dimensions--wall lengths, appliance sizes, doorway and window width, etc. That will get you the best advice from really talented people here.

It sounds like you need a lot of expert help to make changes that affect a lot of the house but also work together — I would too!
