Any Thermador or Bosch Benchmark wall oven issues??

I am looking at these two double ovens for the swing doors. I have seen comments and also experienced the fan noise and heat put out by the Bosch Benchmark..and have been told that the oven ran 5-10 degrees off when cooking.

does anyone have experience with either of these brands and problems with noise, heat projected and or temp inaccuracies? (particularly if you have had the oven(s) less than 5 years).

I have not seen the Thermador running, so greatly appreciate any insight if you own one of their wall ovens. My understanding is the pro and masterpiece are the same with the exception of cosmetic differences. thanks!!

Except for the Thermador rotisserie, these don't seem all that different in power or features:

I have a single Benchmark side door oven at my beach house so it doesn't get the same heavy usage it would at home. However, we do cook Thanksgiving dinner there every year and I do bake baguette and cookies in it. I haven't noticed that the oven temp is off nor do I find the fan noise or venting to be any worse than any other electric oven I've used. I never use convection or the meat probe so I can't speak to that. I love the side opening door, which is why I chose this oven. I bought my oven in 2017.

I have a single benchmark oven, side opening, for a year +. My probe stopped working after using it approximately 4 times. When I plugged the probe in, the oven was not recognizing it. I emailed Bosch and they told me to do the following, which worked. With the oven off, turn off the main breaker, insert the probe for 1 minute, remove the probe and turn power back on at breaker. I just did this today. After doing this, which is supposed to reset it, I plugged the probe into the oven and it recognized it. I didn't try it with actual cooking yet. They told me I would have to call for service if this didn't work. Good luck!

We have the Bosch set with speed oven on top, side door opening oven on bottom. I absolutely love both ovens! The side door opening makes cooking almost effortless. There is no awkward reaching or bending and this is from someone with two burn marks on my arm in almost the same place from using our old range! We did not get the double ovens because I felt we did not need the extra oven space plus we use the microwave a lot. Also have the large Breville toaster oven that can be used for extra oven space if needed. We considered Miele as their ovens are beautiful but this was pushing us way over budget so not an option. Good luck with decision, took us at least 6 months to figure out! Btw food comes out awesome in both ovens, obviously very important too.

@cheri127 thanks very much for the info! Ovens are for my primary home and just decided on Thermador with side swing. I am really excited about the side swing! sounds like your experience is much better than my daughters with her bosch, although it is not a Benchmark level oven, so may be different. appreciate the input ..thank you again!

I don't get it. To pull out any rack of a side-swing oven, one must fully open a 30" wide door that swings 2-1/2 feet into the room. To partially pull out a rack of a bottom-swing door, one may only need to open an 18" tall door that swings perhaps a foot into the room. And one can open the bottom-swing door with one hand while pulling out the rack (and loading/removing a pan) with the other, something that doesn't appear possible with a side-swing door because the handle would be out of reach.

I don't have the Benchmark now but did in my condo. Now I just have the Bosch 500 oven since I use my oven about 1/8 the time I use my Bosch induction cooktop. When I had and used the Benchmark oven, I had no issues with it. This of course was before they came out with the side door version. I wish I had bought the side door version for my house. Sigh.

@wdccruise You are right, although for some of us that are shorter or have mobility issues, having the side swing is a definitely assest. It also avoids reaching partway into a hot oven with the oven door partway open…defisnitely there are upsides and downsides to both.,
