Hi I am needing to tell the GC this tomorrow...Currently I have a long and narrow medicine cabinet with a typical glass door. I am thinking of removing this unit and just having a built in put in it's place. I thought I could put a Longaberger Basket on each of the 4 shelves. Do you think this will look weird? It will essentially turn into a niche right by the sink - a long one though. Anyone have a pic of what I am describing? Not sure if seeing the baskets will look sloppy or busy.....I guess I am tired of the typical glass medicine cabinet door..Any ideas??

Late to this thread but your BPantry shares a lot in common with what we're contemplating. Can you share dimensions of: 1. width of floor 2. width (i.e., depth) of each countertops 3. width (ie, depth) of cabinets? And do you recommend any changes to those for a de novo project? We're considering: 40-42" for the floor width - do not want it too wide or there is lost efficiency of movement; but of course do not want to be confined when a drawer is opened; 18" deep countertops - this is, after all not the kitchen, but is a clean-up and storage area. But if we do not place the d/w at the nether dead-end of this long room (we may or may not), then at least one counter will of course need be the requisite 24 for the d/w 15" & 18" deep cabinets. I need to uninstall a recessed vintage Perma Built medicine cabinet. It has a mirrored cabinet on each side of a fixed center mirror. After removing the screws from the side cabinets they freely move but can not clear the wall. The center mirror panel will not move at all. I can't remove the side cabinets and can't see how the center panel is attached. How do I get this thing out of my wall? Thanks for any help

Ha, Becky...you are not wrong. At this point I think that I’d rather have multiple root canals while touring colleges than ever, EVER do another kitchen renovation. I should have known from reading the posts here that it wouldn’t be smooth sailing, but I’ve been surprised by how much I’ve disliked the process. Mostly due to our own poor planning but also some unforeseen complications, we’ve had to have the plumber and electrician out countless times over the past week. The appliances were installed today, but because of the position of the gas line, the slide in range sticks out an inch beyond what is called for/looks reasonable. The only solution would be to have our cabinet installer come back out to re-set the two small base cabinets on either side of the range, but he is booked out til infinity and I can’t even imagine how bummed our cabinet designer is going to be when we reach out with this request (she’s gone so far above and beyond for us on this project that I feel dreadful even asking). We obviously can’t have the counters templated until we deal with this situation, so we’ll have plywood counters for eternity. My husband decided that they needed to be more water resistant so he bought fake marble contact paper to add to the plywood and at least that is making me LOL. I’m just kind of down in the dumps and questioning my choices again (this time appliances). I have to head out of town on Thursday for work and honestly I think that it will be good for me to have a bit of space from this. I intend to take some stellar naps when I’m not at the conference.
