I think Scott means crushed stone/rock. 3/4" crushed rock is easy to handle and provides a good base. Or recyled concrete that has been thru a crusher..

My one non-negotiable item was the Pebble Sheen finish. I would've given up deck space, pool size, water features, etc. but not my Pebble Sheen. It is glorious to behold and so much cleaner to look at than our previous white marcite pool. Seeing all the little bits of dirt on the bottom of the white drove me crazy. With Pebble, the dirt doesn't show as much. Even the surface seems to require less skimming than my neighbor's marcited pool. So far, the Intellitouch remote control is pretty cool, too. But a total luxury as opposed to the Sheen which, for me, was a necessity.

Jenni, Water will most likely penetrate to the sand and when the freeze comes it will most likely heave the pavers you put down. It would be better to set your pavers in mortar over the existing concrete. I would also recommend that you use a mastic joint behind the stone used as the coping because of the expansion differences between the fiberglas and the concrete. Deck-O-Seal is a common product to use for joints that need expansion. Good luck.

Let me know where your at I will tell you the truth.35 years ago the skimmer and main drain was one line with a T below the skimmer. You don't need 2 skimmers. You will have to replace skimmer and split the main drain, returns, pool vac, light niche, auto fill, fill line, etc, this an easy job, Eq with a new P.E. gas line prepare yourself. Think about staining your concrete/ paint
