I like what I see, but you're not showing enough to get any helpful suggestions.

Your furniture is very neutral, so you could use a rug with a lot of pattern and color, especially if you don't want it to show dirt.

Diana Bier Interiors: Thank you for your suggestions. I love the style and colors of these rugs, but we thought it was best to avoid hand-knotted rugs because they are prone to snagging. We have large dogs and a cat that is not declawed. Unfortunately, they are also way out of our budget. I love the oriental style rugs, but am a little surprised that these would work with my accent chair.

Patricia and Kelly, I am not interested in an entire room design or layout change, so I didn't see the necessity in posting a picture of the whole room. Since virtually every other element in the room is neutral, with the exception of the accent chair pic that I posted, I felt that would be enough to get some suggestions on rug selections. The garden style print was throwing me.

I understand what you're saying about the cost and construction of the hand-knotted rugs.

You could use a natural fiber like seagrass--it's very forgiving and cleans up easily. Or a faux seagrass or sisal. Use a navy or gray cotton binding.

Or you could go to a good carpet store and find a broadloom to be cut and bound in a pattern and color you like. A stripe, chevron or other geometric pattern would work well with your chair. Another idea is an animal print--leopard, cheetah, antelope?

I'm almost always in favor of a more traditional oriental rug. There are enough color and pattern variations out there that you should be able to find something that goes well with your furnishings.

You might look on the Ruggable site for patterns that you like. Although the size you need is to large to throw in a washing machine, the ability to clean the rug might be helpful.

This exercise would have been so much easier if you had just posted an image of the room with the furnishings because ALL OF YOUR FINISHES HAVE AN INFLUENCE ON THE SELECTION OF YOUR AREA RUG.

IMO finding an area that has both gray & beige colors in the rug is essential to making the rug looks like it works with your furnishings.
